i first bought a pair of sony xplod. thats what i had in my wifes car before so i figured id stick with them. well then i decided to replace my sonys but after listening to the display comparison i choose the pioneer. figured id take the sonys out of my wifes and put them in my truck then install the pioneers in hers. this gave me a chance to hear them side by side, i installed one pioneer in her car then listened to the comparison. the pioneer was much better sounding, well worth the $13.00 difference. so now my wife has the pioneers and i have the sonys, but then i have a set of door speakers also so im not missing anything. anyway if i had to have only one set they would be the pioneers.
No, they aren't as good as Infinity Kappas but, for my purposes, they were priced right and the sound is quite good for the money. It has very good bass and good highs. I have Infinity 2-way Reference 6.5" speakers in the doors and I needed to fade to the front to boost them up to match the Pioneers in the rear deck. That says something.....
I have used pioneer audio speakers in every vehicle I have owned since i first started driving, but these have got to be the absolute worst sounding speakers I have heard in my life, to add insult to injury in order to take them out now to return them i would have to take out my entire back seat and side panel assembly then the entire top of the speakers cause of some dumb impala design, but i digress, I had the pioneer 240 watt 6x9s in my firebird, these are aparently 400 watts, my old 240 watt ones that ive had for probly 6 years are way better in sound and quality than these ones, I would not recommend this product to my worse enemy, the stock speakers sound better than these, I am ripping them out and not even attemting to put in the front speakers which look twice as shoddy as these speakers. The whole quality of the pioneer speakers have gone down hill, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AS I HAVE, never again will I purchase any pioneer equipment
