I searched uplights for weeks, until I found this one. The plain metal canisters sell for much more.
Since my light would be hidden, anything would have been fine. But this is actually stylish, too.
I't's an expensive looking piece which would do quite well on a table as well, but I am using it behind a divider, so the beauty and the quality of the item just makes it more versatile, in case I want to use it elsewhere. Be aware of the dimensions, because it's not teensy. And the in-line switch is only about a foot from the lamp itself.
With the eggshell glass globe and pedestal, I feel, that even as a hidden uplight, that it is safer than the metal canisters. The actual bulb stands about 6" off the floor, but the effect is great!
I'd say this is the best uplight choice I have seen under $30.! TY, Walmart!
This is a great lamp! I use it on my breakfast bar on a timer to come on every morning when I get ready and every evening for when I get home. It is nice walking into a warm glow instead of the dark. It looks very nice and elegant. I bought a second one and then it turned out I didn't need it after all, but I kept it because I like it so much, and just set it back for when I eventually need it. It is a really beautiful lamp. And the price is great!!
The globe is real (heavy) glass, not plastic. Only change I would like is for it to use a dimmer switch rather than the basic on/off switch (in fact, I'll probably convert mine). They could easily sell these for 30 bucks so grab them up before they decide to. I can use these in a thousand different ways with different bulb colors & lumen intensities. Note that these use candelabra base lamp bulbs.
