I purchased this 27" IPS-panel monitor for doing photography work and circuit board CAD. It is very well-built, and rugged (metal frame). The best part is it has a matte finish rather than a glossy finish like competing highly-rated monitors. Glossy coating reflections interfere with critical work on the other monitors and I have never been a fan. Took the chance this monitor may be "the one" due to this coating and it is. No dead pixels, and for 2560x1440 that is saying something. It worked correctly out of the box using a dual-DVI connector included. I made sure my video card supported it first before the purchase. Very bright and contrasty, I had to turn down the brightness in my dark office, and reduce the contrast a bit. Colors seem correct right out of the box, though interestingly the backlight takes a minute or two to "warm up" to proper color. This monitor has a nice IPS panel made by Samsung, and it appears to have a wide color gamut (specs don't say). Reds are astoundingly brilliant compared to my old TN monitors, and photographic images are simply AMAZING to behold compared to my old TN-based monitors. Software reds kinda look funky (intense) on this monitor and I am not used to it, but my pictures are very true to color when viewed in LightRoom. If you are into critical hobby photography, this monitor is a much better investment than another lens if you don't print often. If you are a pro, get the 30" variety. Don't waste time on a crummy TN panel because it is cheap or a different 27" panel because it is HDTV resolution. No HDTV resolution panel I could find was an IPS. IPS panels represent a greater variety colors than TN panels and typically have much better viewing angles. Their drawback is slower refresh rates for gaming (not that I care). Lastly; one thing I am having a tough time with is there are so many pixels packed into this 27" monitor that default text is very small and tough to read. Yes, you can change system font sizes in Windows, but for my CAD programs this change messes up some of the dialogs. If you don't have excellent vision you may have a tough time until you get your font sizes adjusted.
