great multi use knife

I've had my trident for as long as they have been available. It goes everywhere I can take it. It is easy to sharpen, holds an edge fairly well, and the assist open is just as strong as it was when new. I did have the pocket clip break off, but SOG mailed me a new one for free.

Surprised by the quality

SOG has always had a good reputation and I own a couple of other SOG products. I like the Trident a lot. It's light weight, sturdy and easy to manipulate. I was surprised that after owning it for only about a month the blade began to show rust spots and pits. I haven't exposed it salt water or harsch chemicals so I'm not sure what the deal is but despite my best efforts to clean and protect the blade it has continued to show rust.

    Best everyday carry!

I've owned a lot of knives and a friend told me about the SOG trident. I got it for myself and it has been my go to knife for almost 4 years now. Its tough, fits well in your front pocket, and sharpens easily.

    First Elk Hunt

I bought this for my boyfriend just in time for him to go elk hunt with his bow. He got a cow and was able to skin and quarter the meat with this knife. That's what's up! He's so very happy with it!

    Trident

I have several of these excellent quality folders. I use this one for EDC. It's lightweight, has a good comfortable grip, keeps a good edge, has fast action. I also have a couple of the partially serrated blade models. I would recommend this great looking well built durable knife for anyone's EDC.

    This is an awesome knife

This is my second SOG knife. As a hunter I use this knife as my primary everything knife. From preparing daily meals to cleaning game. This is the knife I also carry daily. The edge on the knife has yet to fail me. I very rarely have to sharpen the knife. I have only one small complaint, the pocket clip. The old style I think works and feels better in the pocket. The new style sticks out some and hard to slid into the pocket. But all in all I still rate this knife a "5".

    Owned for Years.

I bought this knife over 10 years ago. This knife is a lot like many knives. It is a modern version of a folding hunter knife. The blade still cuts now as the day I bought this knife. I bought this knife for work. I was a labourer in a factory. We cut straps quite often. Cheaper knives where ok. But losing that edge in the middle of work was not cool. The downfall of it was that. If the lock was not engaged. The blade could open up in your pocket. IF you are not carrying it properly. I also had blade play. I was able to fix the blade play by removing the spring. NOW, I love this knife. I know that newer versions of this knife have fixed the issue I had with blade play. I still like my older one. It is a great blade that I use all the tim...

    This is my back-up piece!

30 years in law enforcement and my go to knife is a SOG Trident and Trident Mini. Its quality materials, ease of one handed opening and consistent reliability make it the best choice for LEOs. I won't carry anything except a SOG for my back up.

    My wife loves it too!

I bought it for the look and the assisted opening. I bought it for my wife because she hates liner locks and she loves my Trident. I don't think I've ever used the line/belt cutter feature, but I've sure used the rest of this knife a lot. We are both volunteer fire fighters and the Trident is our fire knife.

Impossible to open one-handed, clip broke off...

This knife is almost impossible to open one-handed using the thumb stud. That being said, if you do exert enough pressure for the thumb stud to be functional, the blade does snap open effectively...if you can get past the pain caused by the stud to your thumb. Just know ahead of time that you will have to endure pain, and then the thumb stud will make the blade snap to attention quite impressively. However, because it takes so much force with the thumb, I've always had to open it it with two hands, and then the "assisted open" limply pumps the blade out half way, and you have to flip it open the rest of the way with either quick-flip wrist action or just pulling the blade to the locking position with the other hand...I have just not found t...

This is part of my EDC!

99% of the time I carry this knife with my Colt 1911 New Agent 9mm. If I'm not carrying this it's because I have my other 5" SOG.
