Geocaching GPS

I fully researched all of the Geocaching GPS receivers out there. You HAVE to subscribe to the Groundspeak website to use the paperless caching on ANY GPS. But you can enter coordinates manually for free. Also, you can get aerial imagery from Magellan for $30 a year. I fully understood this, and this is the case for most all GPS receivers. They will tell you where you are, but the fancy topo maps or satellite images are merely overlays that are optional. *HINT* This unit works great with a screen protector, and stylus from a Nintendo DS! Someone complained about the touch screen. The whole unit's a little thick, but its WATERPROOF!!! Doesnt bother me one bit to actually pay for plastic, and get a lot of it. The beefy plastic makes this unit durable and drop proof. I bought this, and factored in $30 for aerial images, and another $30 for the Geocaching deluxe membership. Everything I needed to Geocache in style for $300.

I absolutely love this GPS. I've taken it out on some kayaking trips and it has proven itself to be outstanding in all the areas that I hoped it would be when I purchased it. The touch screen is large and bright--easy to read outside in daylight, but it is not a capacitive touch screen like most smart phones, so don't expect to fly around on it if you are used to that. It's resistive which means it reacts to the pressure of the touch rather than using conductivity. In any case, the touch screen is very accurate and responsive when navigating. The GPS itself is accurate and totally programmable. The camera takes excellent pictures and the voice recorder takes clear recordings. It is easy to figure out, but complex enough to provide a lot of options. You can customize it to provide whatever is important to you at the moment with just a few clicks. I used the GPS for four hours this past weekend and the battery level never dropped from full. Of course, I utilize the "suspend" mode whenever I can to conserve the battery, but even in this mode, it continues to track for me. Altogether, I would say this is an awesome GPS and would recommend it to anyone. The only reason I gave it a four star rating is that I believe it should have come with a lanyard instead of having to pay another 15 dollars for one.

When I got this Gps I was really excited but the touch screen on it seemed very cheap it was like they took a piece of clear wax paper and used that for the screen I was expecting it to be more like my phone I guess.Second as I was putting my info in to the Gps it froze up on me little upset there but thought it was the first time booting up but what really got me was I took to the park not even running it hard and it froze up there 2 more times inside of 45 min.so I took it back think I am going to go with a garmin Like a friend of mine told me too to start with.
