In order for you to get this plan you need a new activation from Tmobile. That means you have to buy an Activation Kit, get it from Amazon.com for $3. After you receive this kit, you must activate new phone number on tmobile.com. DO NOT Call them or you will not be able to pick this plan. After putting all the info from activation kit and IMEI # from ANY tmobile phone, it will prompt you to pick the plan that you want, pick this plan. Then it will provide you with the new phone number. If you get some kind of message from tmobile saying that they are processing you request and blah blah blah, DO NOT call them, Try again or pick a different area code for your new number. It took me 3 times before I got my new number. After you get this plan you can either pay be credit card there or buy this card from walmart.com and get it in the email. Also for unlimited calls in the US you can get skype calling for $3 a month voice over ip. Works great, I love my new and cheap PLAN.

I felt compelled to write a review after reading the misinformation on this plan, note that I am not affiliated with any provider but I hate the fact that mobile phone contracts are so expensive. I am moving from the other major GSM provider in the USA where I had a 2-year contract. I wanted to use my unlocked smartphone on this plan that I had purchased elsewhere but was informed that I needed to buy one of the Walmart phones as this was an exclusive special. I purchased the LG GS170 (red) for $30 and then popped the SIM in my smartphone with no problems (Samsung Galaxy Nexus unlocked). I did have the associate check with T-Mobile beforehand that this would be okay to which they had no problems whatsoever. Next, I called T-Mo support to see if I could have my number changed to my other provider's cell number. After providing them my account information for my previous provider, my number was moved to the prepaid T-Mobile phone about 2 days later. Check to make sure that your number is eligible and DO NOT cancel your previous phone service until T-Mo moves the number though, otherwise you are completely out of luck and cannot retrieve the number. I am getting excellent data speeds (4G HSPA+) that shame my previous provider and are on par with that of my home internet, capping out at about 9 Mbps. Do your research and your mileage may vary, but this deal is a steal for those who are tired of paying over $90 a month for a mobile contract and do not need to buy phones at a subsidized rate. Kudos to Walmart and T-Mobile for offering this to consumers.

I spend about a week reading about phone plans. I really wanted to get one considering I needed it. I found this plan and kept reading about it. A lot of people kept saying I can't use it unless I buy a phone from tmobile and all these things. but that's not true. Just purchase a 'starter kit' from ANY where. It can be from your local tmobile shop #ask if you can just purchase a prepaid sim card without them activating it.# I had to look in a couple of stores. I found two of them. One was charging 25$ and the other was charging 15$. I could have purchased it online, but I didn't have a credit card. WHICH i would recommend you guys do. After purchasing a starter kit, activate it on the main tmobile website. Their will be an option that asks which plan you're planning on using. Click on this one! Afterwards, you'll be given a choice to purchase a card from the main website or if you already have purchased this, just input the pin you get and BAM! You'l be activated. If it gives you an invalid error. Just call the 1800 number that walmart gives you and input your information and the pin and you'll be good to go. I had to do that mainly because entering the pin onto the website didn't work. Haven't had a problem since. I used my phone that wasn't purchased from tmobile or walmart. I also used a tmobile sim card that wasn't purchased from either. So hopefully this helps anyone who is struggling or is confused.

Detailed Info on $30 Plan

Hello everyone. There is a lot of confusion about this plan and I wanted to help clear some up with my own experiences. I am going to be writing a very thorough account so please bare with me. Before I begin my review, let me give a brief history of my background with T-Mobile. I was originally a contract AT&T customer. I switched to T-Mobile and ported my number by choosing a $80 unlimited everything POST-paid plan. I even traded in my AT&T-bought Galaxy Note 2 to get a T-Mobile Note 3 at the retail store. After a month of usage, I realized that I was not using my unlimited services as much as I thought and decided to switch to this plan to save money. I first read a lot of reviews and articles about this plan to make sure 1) it was still being offered and 2) it was doable for an already existing T-Mobile customer. I would recommend that if you are reading my review, you at least confirm #1 before buying this service. This $30 service is being hidden by T-Mobile since it is Walmart exclusive and they can remove it anytime. To actually get this plan is quite easy, the difficulty comes in the activation of the plan. First off, you do NOT need to buy a Walmart phone. You do NOT need to buy physically from a Walmart store (you can order online). You do NOT need to be a new customer and you can most definitely port over your current (or old) number to this prepaid plan. I was an already existing post-paid T-mobile customer with a T-Mobile specific phone that I bought elsewhere and I managed to keep my old number. Oh, and I ordered online and had it shipped to my home. The way I got this plan set up was by first buying this product here in Walmart, see link (http://www.walmart.com/ip/T-Mobile-Micro-SIM-Activation-Kit/24099996). This Activation Kit came with the MICRO-sim (check your sim size please!), all the necessary resources needed to activate the sim, and $30 of prepaid service for a month. The one I'm typing in now, I believe, is an EMAIL confirmation of the $30 refill. It is NOT the sim card or anything else. This is for when you already have the service and want to reload again. You need the activation kit above to start the service. After receiving my order from Walmart in less than a week, I went online to www.t-mobile.com/prepaidactivation (it's in the pamphlet that comes in your Walmart package) and followed the instructions on the site to activate the service. Before I got to the payment portion of the site, I didn't need to pay anything and just left that section empty because my prepaid account was now active and already paid for. I then called T-Mobile customer service, had them transfer me to the prepaid department and I mentioned my story. I was a existing POST-paid T-mobile customer that needed to transfer to PRE-paid service by adding the $30 plan I got from Walmart. Lastly I needed to port over my number. This is where it gets tricky. You might get unlucky and get unintelligent representatives that do not understand your request. Or you might get lucky like me and manage to get it set up in 3 calls. If everything is done correctly, the representative should transfer your account (or create a new one) to prepaid and then you must wait 24 hours (its actually less, like 30 minutes to 3 hours) to receive a text message to confirm everything went through okay. Just make sure you replace your old sim card with the new Walmart micro-sim card and restart your phone to receive that text message. You should also test your phone by calling it from a different phone to make sure you get connection with the new sim. If everything is working, you are good to go. All in all, I had a pretty easy installation. I got my service and it's exactly as advertised. If you're coming from POST-paid like me, remember that prepaid has a lot less features than POST-paid (no caller ID for $3.99/mo, no JUMP! program, etc). Just a two final tips to those that want to save even more money: From my understanding, prepaid services include NO taxes so long as you do NOT use any t-mobile services to pay your bill (phone, internet, etc). This also includes AUTO-REPAY (auto-drafting from your bank account every month). If you auto-repay, you will have to pay tax, at least from what the representative told me. If you use an authorized reload center however (ex: a check-cashing place), then you may or may not be taxed. There's a check-cashing place that is 30 minutes away from me that reloads prepaid T-mobile free of charge. So if your lucky, you might just have to pay a FLAT $30 and avoid all taxes and charges altogether saving even more money. Lastly, all the major phone carriers charge taxes based on your AREA CODE not your actual address. Meaning if you have an area code from New York, you will be charged New York State taxes (which are high). But technically, if you can change your area code (and phone number) to a state with low state taxes, then you will be taxed less. All you have to do after that is call customer service and let them know you want to enroll in paperless billing, so they don't mail anything to your address (that is clearly not in that area code). I don't know if this is legal or not, you can research more through google. But just an added tip for you guys. Anyways, I hope my detailed review was helpful to someone. Enjoy your new savings!

This is an excellent plan for high speed data. Please note that to get on this plan you DO NOT need to purchase a new cell phone from Walmart as few others have pointed out in the reviews. Here's my setup (using my Nexus One). Purchased a T-Mobile activation kit (basically the SIM card). Popped the SIM into my phone and activated it using the instruction on the activation kit pack. Once activated, bought this pack from Walmart. Walmart sent an email with topup code and phone number to activate this.Called that number to apply this topup. Done! Using this plan with my old phone. Also, if you exhaust 100 mins. provided with this plan you CAN add more minutes anytime. For those extra minutes you pay by the minute. Topup again on the next refill date to get 100 free minutes.

The best thing to do with this plan is to A. Buy the SIM card activation kit from T-Mobile.com and it'll only cost you $1. It shipped within a week. B. Purchase this $30 plan with unlimited web & text and you'll receive the confirmation via email within a few hours or a day. C. Once you receive both items, activate the SIM card on T-Mobile.com and enter in the PIN number they gave you associated with this $30 plan. D. After all is processed, keep your SIM information & the new number because you CAN transfer your old mobile number. E. Call T-Mobile and speak to an operator, ignore the promps. Let them know what you're trying to do and they will transfer the number. The only thing is you might have to use the new number for a few days. T-Mobile will also transfer whatever amount of fund were on your old account to this new one. The phone number will go back to your old one after a few days automatically. You will receive a cofirmation text letting you know the old numbers back. In the meantime, to use My Tmobile, use the new number. I hope this review was helpful. I'm just glad I didn't have to purchase a brand new phone.

I bought this plan for my son for his birthday. He has had issues making calls, sending text in the few days with the plan. The worst issue was that I purchased the Monthly4G $30 Unlimited Web & Text with 100 min of talk but when the phone was setup T-Mobile entered the wrong plan, one that only has 1500 minutes of talk or text. After over an hour trying to fix the issue, my son was told that they only way to fix the issue is to buy a new plan even though it was a T-Mobile mistake. I spent over another hour getting dropped calls and sent to the incorrect departments... The problem was fixed but I was told that the owner of the phone only has 48 hours to fix an issue, even if it was their issue. I asked how is someone to know that you are set to an incorrect plan and I was told to dial #225#.

ON the Mytmobile.com site (you have to have a t-mobile online account to see this), someone posted an online chat dated 10/16/11 @0924, between himself and a T-Mobile CSR. Apparently, the CSR had this person refill his account with $30, before putting him on hold for 3 to 5 minutes, and then coming back to say that this $30 unlimited text/web, 100 minute talk monthly plan is AVAILABLE TO NEW T MOBILE PRE-PAY CUSTOMERS ONLY. Per a response to this discussion thread.... Here's the trick... When you call customer service you have to say that you want to switch from a "post paid account to a prepaid account" specifically. They will then transfer you to the Prepaid division of TMobile to establish your new account. It is similar to starting a new plan with a new provider. I have tried and had no luck in switching to this t-mobile plan.

I got this with the new Samsun Exhibit II 4G Android phone I also bought at Walmart. The plan was so new they didn't have any refill cards in the store, so I got it online. T-Mobile credited it so fast I initially didn't even realize it worked! Anyway, this is an awesome plan for anyone else like me who couldn't afford a smartphone because of the overpriced monthly data plans from the other carriers. Even though I'll never use the 5 GB of bandwidth every month, it's good to know it's there if I need it and that I'm not overpaying for service every month. Thank you Walmart and T-Mobile!

I just activated the card a few minutes ago. I bought my phone and activation kit for cheap from eBay a couple weeks ago. I chose to buy the prepaid card online. The email with the pin came within 15 minutes of me buying it. I went to the T-mobile website and chose to activate a prepaid. I put in my activation code, sim code, and the IMEI number. Then the next page asked for my birth date, region, and whether or not I wanted to use an old number. Afterwards, I chose my plan ($30) and submitted. They gave me my new number and at the end, I entered the pin for the card. During this process, you will also be making your T-mobile account. I am in an area where I am surrounded by T-mobile towers so my internet speed is good. I tested out my number by calling my mother's phone. When I got my number, T-mobile sent me a few text messages so I know that works. The service turned out well and the plan is cheap so I am happy!

After coming off from a 2 year contract with T mobile, I found this on their website. I contacted customer support and they said that I would have to buy a new phone to get this plan. I went to my local walmart store, bought the cheapest one possible, activated it, and then poped the sim card into my MyTouch4G phone. Worked flawlessly... I got 4G internet, Email, Facebook, Google maps, etc. After being a faithful t mobile customer for more then 4 years, and them stating that I was already in the best rate plan "90/month per line", I couldnt afford to stick with them another 2 years after only using an average of 100 mins per month anyways. I like the DATA!!! I am currently using my mytouch tmobile hot spot right now without purchasing wifi tethering that is required under the conventional "contract" rate plans.

Bought this from walmart and activated within an hour. Data speed is very fast. Can't complain. I wish this plan had 200 minutes or so. Skype with $3 a month unlimited US/Canada might works if need more than 100 minutes per month. However any VoIP services will not be as clear as mobile service voice quality. I am just testing this out to see if this plan is keeper or not.

Ok listen, the way this works is that you buy the plan from t-mobile. It is under their prepaid plans, it is the 30 dollar, 100 minutes talk, unlimited text & web. You buy a sim card from t-mobile, you can use a t-mobile phone or any unlocked gsm phone, though you may or may not get 3g/4g. All this is is a refill, the same thing you can buy from the t-mobile site. http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/monthly-4g-plans Unlimited Web & Text with 100 Minutes Talk. is the plan you want.

Port your number to GoogleVoice {$20 one time porting fee, most carriers charge a monthly and/or yearly fee for this svc,} unlimited for life, or until Google changes. Unlimited calls over data or wifi from you Android phone with SipDroid or similar app. Youtube for questions. Use your 100 measly min as reserve, which you will likely never need. Porting is just another futile attempt from carriers to keep clients strapped in. Seems like it should work through tmo as well, 1. Order $1 sim from prepay phones 2. Activate online through tmo PepaidActivation link: enter act code, sim, and imei. Be sure to select the $30 Monthly4g plan at checkout. 3. Follow procedure above to enable unlimited calling. 4. Enjoy

Some people here are complaining that this card is giving them the wrong $30/month plan when activated, or that Walmart is not sending them an e-mail within 24 hours or so. I was apprehensive to order this card online from Walmart because of such reviews, but let me tell you that this experience worked flawlessly for me. I can't speak for those who experienced those and similar issues with purchasing and activating this card and plan with T-Mobile, but I can personally say that I received the e-mail within an hour giving me my activation code, I called the number given and provided the code, and it was applied to my T-Mobile account online and the right $30/month plan (Unlimited Web and Text w/ 100 minutes) was activated on my account. Maybe the problem for some of the others was that they didn't register to create an account on T-Mobile's website /before/ purchasing and activating this card? Not sure if that would pose a problem, but it's worth a try beforehand to prevent issues like those which others have experienced.

I used to have a pay as you go plan with T-Mobile. I heard that this plan is for new customers who bought a phone on the Walmart.com or t-mobile.com. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I've got a unlocked Google Nexus from Google play and a new SIM card from t-mobile.com and activated it with my son's Samsung Exhibit from Walmart. But I was about to loose my long time phone #. I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask if I can be switched from the pay as you go to the $30 100min/unl.text/data plan. I was so surprised when I was told YES. They swapped the plan and I saved my phone # with the great phone. The new SIM card will go to a trash can now. People, don't rely on 'he said, she said', just go ahead and ask. 100 minutes is not enough for me so I used them in two weeks. In this world of technology I didn't want to pay 10c. a minutes after that so I learn that the Google voice along with Talkatone work just great. They eat your data but 5gb is a huge number, I never used more that 2. 5 min. of talking is 2 MB of data. I barely use my 100 minutes now. Overall I am very happy with the plan and my new phone.

Most important thing: You do NOT have to buy a new phone, neither use a new number to use it. Just buy the card, wait for the email (DO NOT ACTIVATE THROUGH THE WALMART PHONE NUMBER) and call T-Mobile (if you already have a plan with it) telling the representative that you want to keep your actual phone number. I have an Galaxy S and a old T-Mobile SIM and I'm using this new plan after this steps above. About the plan: Stick with this plan if you need data access. You have 5GB at 4G speeds to use (on capable devices) and 2G if you go further. The only drawback is the 100 minutes dialing/receiving call, but for me is more than fine because I can use Talkatone or Groove IP for calling through Google Voice (Voip) inside the data plan. Messages are unlimited also.

I bought this $30 Monthly 4G plan and got a $30 Pay as you Go plan. After hours with T-Mobile support I cannot get what I purchased, I have no Web access. Best of luck to you if you purchase this. At this point my new Samsung Exhibit II purchased from Walmart cannot access the web. The t-mobile gentleman who activated my phone did so as a "Pay as you Go talk & text" not a "Monthly 4G Plan". I've talked to 2 or 3 t-mobile reps and they all say they cannot switch it.. Soooo one said I need to get a new sim from Walmart (they don't sell sims), one said to go to a T-Mobile store, the next one said "Do not go to a t-mobile store", go to Walmart and get a new activation code. Wish me luck. I hope this will help someone not waste a Saturday afternoon like I did.
