This is my 3rd crate for my 1yr old beagle/boxer mix. He bent the wires on all the others and I was afraid he'd hurt himself trying to break free while I was out of the house. Not so w/this one. I did a lot of research, and although the wire gauge on this crate is "only" 7, 9 and 11, the wires feel very strong, and most importantly, the spacing between the wires is small enough that my dog can't get his teeth around them (and they can't be bent). The 3 (removable) doors are a major convenience. For those w/puppies, there is a divider panel and a housebreaking instructional DVD included. I'm so relieved to know that my dog is now safe and won't destroy my house when we leave. And he loves it, too - always sleeping through the night in it and just hanging out when he wants to get away from the kids or just take a nap.
I bought this to crate-train my dachshund. He is a stubborn one, that's for sure. I needed something "rugged" enough to hold him as we started. This crate has held up to his little dachshund fits beautifully! At first, I wondered about the triple doors, and how that would work out. There is a separator wall if you have puppies and need to get to them individually. I thought this feature was very cool, even though I don't have puppies and only have the one dog. In my case with my temperamental dog, I'm able to get to him from either end of the crate and he can not escape from me! (just kidding). It also has a door in the middle front for the dog to get in and out of, provided you have a dog that will get in. Anyway, I like having the options of doorways, because I can put the crate up against a wall if needed and access the best door. I can also put it in the car and still have multiple options of getting him in and out. I don't have a big car and can only fit the crate one way. However, I can still reach him by using one of the 3 doorways. I find this product very sturdy and well made. Just make sure you get the right size for your dog. I reviewed the measurements carefully before purchase and ended up with the perfect size for us. The quality matched the price, and the price wasn't that bad. ($60)
I bought this crate for my boxer. She loves it! Crate is very durable.
Seems other reviews are based on home use. I compete with my dog and tried using this for travel. Out of the box, the assembly was poor and one of the doors fell completely off when opened or closed. Tried closing the wire by pinching it a bit, and the door began to bind, catch and then snap back at the exiting dog. After an incident the other day, I sent it smashing onto the driveway -- no dog in it of course. Really very unhappy after a short time of use and am giving this one away. I've had some great Midwest products, but this is not one of them.
