Worst chain saw I've every bought.
I live in Colorado at 5200 ft altitude. Hitachi advertised this one to work just fine at this altitude but after attempting to use it just once we realized that's not the case.
The first time we used it, it died after running for about 5 minutes. It started after 10 minutes of pulling but quickly died again.
I took it into a Hitachi authorized repair shop for warranted repair.
The repair shop fought with Hitachi for 6 months trying to get a carburetor that worked. Hitachi finally admitted this was a common problem and they were trying to engineer one that would actually work. 4 months later they finally sent a working carburetor. During that time we tried to get Hitachi to admit it was junk and refund our money but the window to return it had closed. What a nightmare.
I would recommend you spend a little more money and buy a proven chain saw for your area.
Hitachi might work just fine at sea level but that won't improve their customer service.
Husband bought so he didn't have to use mine. Seems to take quite a few pulls to start. Much bar chain oil on floor after stopping. Does not live up to Hitachi's standards or reputation.
Plan to return. Never have used it as mine is easier for him to use.
