I have always hated being a sucker for marketing and hype, but bought MORE Monster cables for the A/V home theater/ game setup. I have 3+1 of them in 5' and one 8' length. They were priced on par with other cheap HDMI cables (not spending $100 a pop on 1 cable anymore), and were more flexible than previous monster cables, and HDMI really simplifies multi-device set-ups. I still can't tell if I have recevier switching "handshake" issues with my new Denon AVR-591 receiver, Xbox, and Vizio 55" xvt553sv set, or if it's the cables. I had issues watching "The Walking Dead" via Netflix through my Xbox 360, and had horrble flickering, static, loss of picture/audio, until I unplugged the HDMI cable from the back of the Xbox and plugged it back it. It cleared up after that. Who knows where the problem lies, but for thousands on A/V hardware, why skimp on cables and a solid surge supressor. ;)
