Maps very up to date and available frequently for update.
POIs same as above.
Big bright screen, some options for layout and colors makes it even better.
Runs on Linux so should be stable, have confidence it will run as well as my PCs and phone which I always pleased with.
Once ready to go it's smooth as silk, don't like it naming every road so I use a voice that simply tells you instructions like next right 400 yards. Real simple and a joy.
Pictures of difficult interchanges ( well pseudo pictures, not the real interchanges!) make them easy to navigate. Be hard to miss a turn with that on the screen, great at a glance to know where you should be.
Quite difficult to use after using Garmin for a couple of years. Where Garmin requires 2 presses, this requires 3-4 for every option. Starting with this: It doesn't sense engine turn off so switches to battery automatically, staying on and this kills the internal battery. One more key press, to turn it off when leaving the car and on when getting in to go.
Navigating also requires extra steps compared to Garmin's offerings.
Slow, very, very slow to locate and lock onto satellites. Option to skip this acquisition stage and go with last location is another darn key press and still can't figure out I'm still in my driveway from yesterday.
Runs on Linux yet doesn't support updates etc... on my Linux PCs? Surely one of the developers could write a script to just check for an update and install as required? I'm not a developer but if they were to contribute back to the community they might find the community would also help them out.
Because of the constant interaction to just use this device, navigate and locate POIs or locations I cannot recommend this to friends. It's too bad because once it is set to your mid points and end points it does a fine job. Just don't look for a rest area without stopping in the rest area to trudge through 3-4 screens. Last trip was with my 80 year old mother in the co-pilot's seat. She can use her Garmin with a sure hand but this one, no chance. I had to stop and work it myself. Hope this helps.
