This is a nicely built spotlight. The light is strong. That's the good. Here's the bad.... after about 6 months, it's a paper weight. The problem isn't the build or the actual light because those things are great, but the battery is a dud. First, even on a full charge brand new out of the box, the spotlight will only last for about 15 minutes of continuous use. After a few charges, the battery will no longer hold a charge. The battery apparently is a lead acid battery and doesn't hold a charge like a lithium ion battery does. Little did I know about the difference when I bought this unit. If you leave it plugged in so it's always ready, that overcharges the battery and ruins it. If you unplug it until you need it again, the battery drains in storage and therefore not ready when you need it. Sorry Stanley, I have better things to do than to monitor my spotlight to make sure I plug and unplug it whenever it needs a charge. And if you really read the specs, you can't let a lead acid battery drain completely, because THAT will ruin the battery too. Who has time to monitor all this? (And note that there is no indicator to tell you any of this on the unit either!) I thought perhaps I could save my unit by buying a new battery and replacing it, but then when I found the replacement battery, it cost more than just buying a whole new light, and the replacement battery was also a lead acid battery, which would have ended up being the same as the original with the same set of problems. I'll be switching over to another brand and an LED with a lithium battery that will hold a charge when fully charged for about a year (and the charger has an auto shutoff so that it won't overcharge). You pay more for the LED/lithium models, but it's better to know it will stay charged when you need it and will run for hours instead of minutes. Waypoint has a good version Streamlight looks promising, but it is much more expensive than this model, but I guess in the end, you get what you pay for. Sorry Stanley, you missed the mark with this dud. Too bad the landfills will be full of these spotlights. I should have done more due diligence before I bought this item in the Walmart store, but I was depending on the Stanley name. I thought it meant "quality".
