I've shredded 8 heads; proved much faster but not necessarily easier. I'm quite strong; to muscle the segments through the shredder is only difficult but I can see it being next to impossible for anyone significantly less adept. Initially I quartered and cored the heads. This proved OK for the less dense segments. With some experience, by the 5th head I could judge the size the segments should be. Also, the orientation of the segments proved significant; the straight(core)side against the pusher proved easiest but had drawbacks so be your own judge. The three blades seems to slow the process, requiring additional force to push the segment through. It shouldn't go without mentioning; there's cabbage to be shredded by hand that won't go through the shredder safely. All said, this device is worth the effort due to time saved. I gave value and durability "average" because I don't know but my best guess is they're at least average. As not to seem overly critical, I gave an "excellent" for "Appearance"; mostly because it doesn't aptly apply. But in that regard, the picture isn't representative of the shredder I received. All the better; I read reviews about the white plastic peeling off the blade board with few uses. My shredder has a substantial unfinished wood board at the blade. Good Luck
