I was pre-disposed to liking any incarnation of Wells' classic. Spielberg gives homage to George Pal's '50s version, Orson Welles' '30s radio version, Roger Dean's visual concepts from the late '70s, and of course Herbert George's timeless novel. I already owned the DVD, so when the bluray became available I grabbed it. This did not enhance the experience as I'd hoped. It made the grain sharper.
