The unit was missing a plastic leveling foot which I've replaced with
an extra small tape measure I placed on its side under the right front
corner of the unit. Next, FYI, one the two plastic covers for the hinges
had come off one of the hinges in shipping(?) so I figured out how to
snap it back on. Next despite sitting upright for 3 days as instructed,
when I started the icebox up the sides of the unit and a metallic sausage
size tube about 4 inches long in the back opening probably hit 140-150 degrees
Farenheit. I note that the room it was in was about 90 degrees at the time
and the manual does warn that the sides may become 30-40 degrees hotter
but it was still worrisome). However, it cooled down in about 6 hours after I
turned on the AC and directed a fan at the icebox to help the unit keep going.
After that the fan was not necessary and this behavior has not recurred. Next,
when you open the unit's door the whole unit slides forward 1-2 inches(possibly
due to the improvised right front corner foot and/or the unit's relatively light weight),
so I open it with my right hand while I hold the unit with my left a left hand thumb
on it which for me is no big deal. Finally, while you get a mini/toy ice tray with the
unit that fits in the freezer compartment, that compartment cannot fit a regular size
ice tray. The compensation for that(thanks to another review on the web) is to put a
regular size ice tray rifgt below the freezer compartment and it will freeze there, but
no more than one tray(I tried 1 and then 2). Other than these compensations
and the two-hands-needed-open issue stated above, the unit now runs problem free,
is correctly cold for the ice box and freezer at the mid setting and is much quieter than
another I had in the same exact same spot until it recently broke down a couple of
months ago. In sum, for me this is what they call in fishing a "keeper". Be nice if Walmart
could send me another right front foot....????? I just haven't had time to call them and
request it. Hope this helps.
