I already had the ramp and decided this would be the least expensive way to create a ramp for my dog to get in and out of the pool for her exercise (she has hip displaysia). The value was good and is great for small dogs, but my rottweiler weighs about 90 pounds. The legs hold up, but when she gets to the bottom (where the legs are mounted) the ramp tends to wobble. When we are in the pool, I have to stand by the ramp to make sure she doesn't loose her balance and fall off when she gets in or out. I secured the ramp to my deck with a metal bracket my dad built for stability, but the bottom is very shaky. It is good for the price and gets the job done, but not very stable.
I bought the ramp that is meant to be used with this leg kit and was very happy with the quality of it. However, the legs are not great. Since there is really no choice (you have to use this kit if you plan on using the ramp in a pool) I would recommend it. You really need to keep an eye on your pet while using it, and stay up on this product's maintenance. In my opinion the legs are not far enough apart to offer a stable surface for a large dog to walk on. We have a 75lb lab, this is probably not an issue for owners of small dogs. The ramp wobbles a lot when he uses it. My biggest complaint are the screws used to attach the ramp keep coming unscrewed. Both my husband and I have found them in the pool and have had to reattach them. Also the plastic ends on the legs (there to protect your pool from damage and aide the ramp from slipping) keep falling off and having to be reattached.
