The antenna works about as well as any CB antenna this short is going to work. You really need a full size (102-108") whip to get best performance. The shorter the antenna the more of the signal that is lost in the matching coil, which limits range both sending and receiving. This antenna is supposedly rated for 100W, which is meaningless for any legal CB radio where the maximum power is less than 1/4 of that rating. However CB antennas are also commonly used with amateur 10M mobiles, where 100W would certainly be legal. I have not attempted to feed 100W through this antenna just to prove it would smoke the matching coil, but I have enough experience with electronics to be confident that trying to run 100W through this antenna for more than a few seconds would let the magic smoke out of it. The magnetic mount gets pretty much the same basic evaluation -- it works as well as any mag mount this size. It will hold the antenna on the roof or trunk like of a car at any legal speed, provided that roof or trunk lid is steel (not aluminum or fiberglass) and provided the metal isn't covered with vinyl or other covering. Overall, it is a pretty good antenna FOR THE PRICE of $21.33. It is suitable for casual temporary use, such as adding a CB to a car for a quick road trip; but it is not an antenna that I would consider for full time use if I expected my CB to work as well as it should. If you want a good antenna you really do need to go to a radio store or truck stop and spend at least twice what this antenna costs
