I bought this cooler based on the facts that it was a "wheeled" cooler, and that it would hold ice for up to 5 days in 90 degree weather.IT DID NEITHER! Our first and only use had it placed in the pass-thru storage of a 32' motorhome where it never saw the sun and the temperature never exceed 72 degrees. it was stocked with beverages and filled with two 20lb bags of ice to provide additional cold storage for 4 days of "dry-camping". The cooler was filled to the top.
After just 24 hours the ice had melted/settled to 3 inches below the top. after 48 hours we had enough room, and needed to put an additional 20lbs of ice in the cooler. At this point we had not taken any beverages out of it. AND YES...I MADE SURE THE TOP WAS SECURELY CLOSED.
At the end of 96 hours(4 days) we had opened the top maybe 6-8 times and the cooler was full of ice alright, only it was LIQUID ice...otherwise known as water. To be fair, there were a few pieces of ice floating around and the beverages were relatively cold.
The outside temps never got above 72 degrees the entire time, so the claim that it will hold ice for up to 5 days would appear to be a very long stretch of the truth. If you need a cooler that will hold SOLID ICE for that long...DO NOT BUY THIS COOLER.
when we got home I drained the water out of the bottom, rear placed plug( very awkward to get to) and placed it on the ground to wheel into the garage. Got about 5' when the wheel fell off because the retaining clip/washer came apart into 3 pieces. If you need to buy a wheeled cooler...DO NOT BUY THIS ONE!
I have a 20 yr old cooler that could have done the same thing for me and is easier to handle that I think we'll revert to using.
If all you need is a cooler to place in one spot and keep things cold for 2-3 days in moderately warm weather, in the shade then knock yourself out with this one...otherwise save your money and DON'T BELIEVE THE CLAIMS of this cooler.
