you cant beat the price on this lamp... when it came I was happy with the product. has a good reach, and a 75W bulb was plenty for my desk (100W max too). the reach was good as I put it at the back of my 36" desk and it illuminates the front well. springs are tight and won't let the lamp sag when it is fully extended. Just make sure you have a lip to mount it on... probably need a lip of 1.5 - 2" long and no more than 2" thick. mouting was easy and does not require drilling or messing up your desk.
this is a very pretty lamp but needs work on the materials . the shade slides on with a twist lock motion and is loose causing the lower half to come loose several times already when positioning the lamp . the small metal bumps that are supposed to lock it in place, do not fit tightly enough into the grooves .
Bigger problem is the screws that tighten to keep the lamp in position slip and the plastic clamp base is almost useless . the base on one of the 2 lamps I bought cracked at the top of the section the tube slides into the second time I used the light .
then the base cracked at one corner ( directly across the screw hole)
be prepared to mill a base . ( my son milled collars for each of the clamp bases in machine shop so we were able to fix these ) but while I was waiting we just drilled a hole in a hardwood block to slide the lamp end into and clamped the hardwood to the shelf unit.
plastic base needs improvement and plastic screw nuts need to be replaced with wing nuts
brushed steel looks great .
I may still buy another even with the drawbacks because I love the look and can fix what is wrong to my satisfaction.
Looks good, clamps good, lights well, knob turns well, easy assembly, moving parts move well. Solid purchase.
