Unbreakable. Will never 'stop working'; there is no motor or electronics. It has shortcomings, however. It came with the internal parts coated with grease, probably to prevent rust, but the coffee sticks to the grease and if you grind peppercorns, for example, you end up with a mix of pepper and coffee. I took it apart, scrubbed the metal pieces in hot soapy water, dried the parts and reassembled it, but the coffee still sticks to the grinding wheel. I am going to try cleaning it with compressed air. The wood drawer is rough and unfinished; the coffee sticks to that, too. I intend to put a coat of urethane on it, but for now I use a small cardboard box instead. To be fair, these cleaning issues wouldn't be a problem if I just stuck with grinding coffee, and might be a problem with other grinders, too, but I don't have any experience with others. Maybe when I switch to grinding something else, I just need to grind a small amount to 'clean' the wheel, and then discard it...
