I purchased the 17' Cosco just two days ago. I've wanted one of these versatile ladders for a long time and I got a great price at Walmart. Yesterday I was painting the metal roof of my mobile home. I must have climbed the ladder 20 times, often carrying paint, etc. I weigh 250, and this ladder is solid - there was little movement as I climbed over the mid-point hinges, and, because of its wide footprint, it felt extremely stable. I used it as an extension, step ladder, and wall ladder, all worked as promised. I did have a problem with one of the side 'rail locks' sticking badly (they pull out and spring back in, to adjust the height) - the sticking got worse as the day wore on, and finally it seemed not to be working, at all. I was going to return the ladder for an exchange. But, before doing that, I sprayed the sticking latch with a silicone lubricant and worked it a bit, and it was immediately working like new. I lubed all four of them and now they all work great. I heard about the messy aluminum oxide rubbing off onto hands and clothes, so I washed the ladder with a detergent and brush before using it. That helped a lot. This is a great ladder, I would highly recommend it.
