Was a gift for a five year old and he loves it. That's what counts.
This is one radio controlled truck I would recomend to all for your children or even adults for that matter. I charged the battery up for the 8 hours it asked for and have been using it for some time now and I'm not even gental with it. I've slamed it into walls and rolled it over and it keeps on going with NO damage to it at all. Very strong and fun...Dan
I bought this for my 5 yr old Grandson for xmas.
I won't know until then how he handless it, but I had no problems. I was disappointed that I couldn't find spare batteries at Wal*Mart but was able to find a NiMh battery & charger on ebay. With a spare battery he should get many hours of play time. I think it runs twice as fast as it needs to, so it's more of an outside toy than inside. My house is too small to let-r-rip.
My 4 yr. old grandson loves it. I got this for him as a Christmas gift and of all the things he recieved,(according to Mom and Dad), this is the one gift that gets played with every day. I thought he might be a little too young for the age group that was listed, but this was a step up from the other RC cars he's had before. He was in awe just looking at all the detail. He said he finally got a "real truck"!
This truck is built to take a beating as I saw crashes that would have been disastrous on other toy cars.
It runs on all surfaces with no problems, and due to the wheels and the high body clearance, it ran on the grass with ease. It is a quick truck so the grass is a great spot to learn how to drive it as it does slow it down a bit for the beginner driver. The rechargeable battery needs 6-8 hrs charge before the first run, so if you're "gifting", make sure you pre charge it so you won't have to wait to use it when it's opened. If you're looking for a RC car of any type for a child, make sure you get one with a rechargeable battery like this one has. As much as this one gets used, we'd have spent a fortune on batteries, let alone the time to go and buy them.
