This item is as bicycle retro as you can possibly get. The original design goes back to the 1890's. This item is used as a band around the bicycle rider's ankle to keep the cuff of the rider's pants from getting caught in the chain and crank sprocket. This device is a professional substitute for tucking your pant's into your sock. If you are tucking your pants leg into your sock for this purpose, this gadget will increase your cool meter 1000% However, it was designed 100 years ago before automobiles owned the roads. It does work and it is nostalgic. A better alternative is to get a reflector band with velcro which will serve the purpose of keeping your pants cuff away from the chain AND provide some level of road visibility and safety.
