Part of me wishes that there were a lot more scenes with the creatures, but another part of me doesn't cause it would have been watered-down with horrible CG which I DESPISE. If you can't take the time to make the constumes/effects/blood/creatures yourself, then don't make them at all, let alone like a video game on a computer. It's for lazy filmmakers who wanna save money and water down a genre. The 80's into the early 90's didn't have the CG they do today and the horror movies were A LOT more creative and entertaining. That special "hands on" part of filmmaking is dead. BUT NEVER-THE-LESS, this film uses minimal CGI and does incorporate puppets/actual SPFX. This movie is shot beautifully and could almost fool you as an academy award winning western, then throws in monsters that come from out of the ground to eat people. Sorta brought back 80's style creature features, just with a western twist.
This film really tears me to pieces... I loved the concept, and really enjoyed it until the end; LITERALLY. The ending didn't ruin the film, but I wish it was done differantly. The monsters were FREAKY CRAZY, and yes I jumped....TWICE! Totally had fun, and would totally recommed it!
I usually don't like era films (films set in a particular historic time), but this one is pretty good. It's not as shocking as, say, The Others, but it holds its weight. There are some points where it becomes predictable but it's still enjoyable.
You need to make a second one with more aliens.
Pretty fair horror movie with a different twist- a western horror movie!
I bought this based on customer reviews. . and also because I love Clancy Brown. But I'm sorry it just didn't keep me engaged. There were a couple factors that just made it a "yawn-fest" for me. First of all it starts out very slow and so you're dealing with a slow movie AND the very dark scenes of cowboys shooting in the dark-- makes it hard to stay awake. From start to finish it just seemed to drag on. The creatures during the last 10 minutes were pretty decent, too bad you had to wait until the end to really see them. Which I might add they looked like "underground, slither on your belly" version of the creatures in Doom. The end was anti-climatic like the rest of it. It was overall kinda boring. I'm a horror movie fanatic, and most I like-- but oddly enough this one just didn't do it for me.
