If you are one of the last 200 runners who have not read this book, you are missing out. You'll make back the cost of the book 100 times over with what you'll save on running shoes. If you are not a runner, read this book. It may make you want to run, or it may make you a vegetarian, or both.
Great Book! If this book doesn't get you running... Then you must be dead.
A fellow runner recommended this book when he BLEW past me at a 5-mile challenge; just the year before, he was eating my dust! For anyone who is a runner, athlete, or simply a roadside afficionado, you will be motivated and inspired by McDougall's quest and by the Tarahumara way of life. The characters along the way offer complexity and humor to the story, too. McDougall's research is to be commended as he justifies the "proper" running techniques using scientific theory and biological study as support. You will be ready to trash your $100+ "cushiony" running shoes for a minimalist - or better yet, barefoot/5-toed slipper - upon hearing the latest studies from top researchers and athletes on injury prevention and maximizing performance. Get ready to be moved, uplifted, entertained, and educated by Born to Run. (Sorry if this review is choppy: my 6 and 3 year olds are *constantly* interrupting my train of thought as I try to write).
