I microwave quick grits since it's quick and convenient that way. I've tried Quaker quick grits with the recommended amount of water, stirred it and put it in the microwave for 4 minutes. It almost always comes out lumpy and coarse. I do the same with the Great Value quick grits, except I add the water and don't even stir, and it comes out with no lumps every time. I think the Great Value stuff is ground finer than Quaker's, and that's what makes the difference for me. Certainly, the taste is the same. I can't believe I just wrote a review of grits.
