I read all the reviews on this product before I bought it. We have been searching for bunkbeds for my girls-7, and 3. I could not bring myself to spend $1000.00 or more on bunkbeds. This was a fantastic purchase. Site to store was quick and easy. My husband stayed up late one night and put them together by himself. The girls sleep on the full together and we store stuffed animals on the top and will use it when company comes I am sure. The new furniture smell was gone after day 1. They are sturdy enough for my husband and I to climb up on and my husband weighs 240lbs. We have regular twin and full matresses and they fit just fine. No bunkie boards needed, it comes with slats. There is a lot of storage room under the beds but there is a pole in the very middle which would interfere with a trundle. I use storage bins with wheels. And they will break down into two seperate beds! I cannot believe they were only $329.00!!! By the way-they are made in vietnam-not China! If that matters!

We received this bed on the 23rd of December intending for it to be a Christmas present for our kids. Unfortunately, when we opened it on Christmas Eve to put it together, we were sadly disappointed. Actually I was in tears, because I had read all the reviews so many times, that even though the box looked in pretty rough shape, I expected the bed to be fine. Not the case. The first piece we pulled out was part of the foot board and it was damaged in several places. It also had black marks on it, which did NOT come off with a Magic Eraser, which usually takes off everything. :( SAD! We decided to try and have that be the part we put next to the wall, so that the kids would still have their big exciting present for Christmas. Long story short, there were actually 5 damaged boards, 2 that required wood glue and clamping. The packaging says to call the company and they will replace any damaged pieces, but it would have taken too long, since we'd already moved out the other beds to make room for this one. The end product looks pretty much like the picture, as long as you don't look too close. Fortunately, the kids are little and not too discerning yet, so they don't realize that their bed is not very nice. I'm not sure if the error was with the shipping, or the manufacturer, but overall, I was quite disappointed.

Did quite a bit of research on the perfect bunk bed for my daughter's room. She has always had two beds in her room for sleepovers and visits from Grammee. We needed to reclaim her playroom and still wanted the two beds. The bunk beds freed up a wall for her larger toys and basically combined her playroom and bedroom. After checking the reviews on this and a storkcraft model that I liked the style of, I went with this one. I am so glad I did. The other had many negative reviews about breaking and a low weight capacity. This one has 175 pound capacity per bed, as far as I can tell from the manufacturer's specs. I believe it exceeds that by at least 50lbs or more as she has slept on the bottom bed with her grammee without a problem. It took about 3 hours for a slow paced and stress free assembly. Like other reviewers have stated, there are occasional cracks in the paint. Nothing major and nothing I felt compromised the sturdiness or appearance of the bunk bed frame. Overall, I am beyond pleased with the quality and style of this. I'm glad I did my homework and did not purchase th storkcraft which seems to be a better known manufacturer. No one can believe this came from WalMart and not a kids furniture place. Sorry WalMart, but I'm pretty sure it's a compliment.

Can an adult sit up when on the bottom bunk? Anyone know? You know how some you can only roll off, not even sit up to read or whatever - thanks!

    • A. I cannot, but my girls (ages 10 & 7) still can. It's ok, though. I sit in a slightly reclined position and can still cuddle up and read bedtime stories.

    • A. There's enough room to prop yourself up on pillows to read, but not to actually sit up straight under the top bunk. About a third of the bottom bunk is not under the top bunk, so I suppose you could sit up if laying on that outer edge.

    • A. your kids can sit up on the bottom bunk if they're ages 7 below. But if they're tall, don't bother to buy this.
