I've only used this product once so far, but it worked well. This gps recalculates fast and i thought it was great that it offers "Fastest time", "shortest distance", and etc. options along your route. the only downside was that it lost satelite connection a couples times while in the mountains, but it also regains connections very fast . While in the mountains is also located streets that aren't seen from main streets (ex/ streets locals may only know). It is very convenient to use and have. I'm very pleased with my purchase!

Disappointed to say the least
I bought this GPS after researching it online. It was rated best for the money in my price range. I have been disappointed to say the least. On one trip it didn't recognize a road that had been constructed over a year ago. So much for updates maps! (I just uploaded the maps less than 2 mos ago.) On another occasion it must have been giving me directions to somewhere else because none of the street names it was naming were in the area I was in. One time when completely lost it went on the whack and right in the middle of directions just went in a "roaming" mode (ie map going crazy, not finding anything but still had full signal) My latest aggravation was when trying to find a bar in New York City it said that Park Avenue South did not even exist! Ummm Major street right by Union Square!! Not to mention that in NY/NJ/CT area I need to avoid the toll roads and it doesn't have that option. I did better when mapping online. Now I hardly ever use it and feel I wasted my money completely!

This is my first GPS purchase...I recently bought this one before christmas - picked up using free site2store and decided to take this on my road trip to Vegas (from San francisco). Loved it! This is my first GPS purchase so I dont know how it compares with others...but I loved this product. Apart from this one time when it gave me directions to a non-existent Gas station on my trip (I finally had to do it the old fashioned way, stop by a store and check where is the nearest gas station) -- I had no problems with it. Its easy to use and also provides traffic updates in certain areas.

cant go wrong with this one

all i can say is this one is the best i have ever used...it is a little hard to figure out at first, but after awhile of playing with it, you will figure it out.its the best gps you will ever want.. the volume is plenty loud, even with the car radio going you can still hear it fine...i loved the bluetooth on it. you can call while you drive and not be worried about getting pulled over by the police...just make sure to update it before the 60 day free update is over with... i loved all the things you can download to it like a turkey, or a ghost, or frankenstein.. to many to mention to download...just a super great product...

Great Buy, Great Value-Works Great!

This Garmin GPS device works excellent. The feature of having the street names pronounced makes it safe and convienent. The touchscreen is very user-friendly and easy to navigate, if you miss a street, it automatically recalculates to get you going in the correct direction. My favorite feature is the built-in bluetooth option. After the easy intial setup, it automatically within seconds of turning the device on recognizes your phone and connects without a touch! All incoming calls automatically display the name from your phonebook in your cellphone on the GPS screen, all you have to do is talk like normal in your car and you can hear the other person as if they were sitting next to you, no ear piece or other equiptment required, just a bluetooth compatible phone It also options voice dial (you have to touch the screen on the right option first, also your phone must have voice dial capability). Overall...a great buy!! No Cons!

Better than I Hoped

This GPS is terrific for my purposes. The weaknesses of my previous GPS (not a Garmin) were the sound wasn't loud enough, it didn't say the name of the street or offramp I was to take, at times it wouldn't give me enough lead time to make the turn, it couldn't always locate an address, etc. But this Garmin 265T does all these things and does them flawlessly. I travel all over the Denver metro area on a daily basis. As a Chaplain I go to about 100 different facilities, which I inputted all of them as favorites in about 45 minutes, plus private homes all over, and over the weeks I've had this device it has yet to fail me. I got this item for the lifetime traffic feature and it has worked well also, letting me know on the screen that a delay was ahead and with two quick touches I'm given an alternate route instantly. I have only praise for the Garmin team for the technology they've put together in this device.

No regrets

I found the buying process, through Walmart.com, an easy and fast way of selecting what I wanted; the Garmin Nuvi 265T. What I didn't enjoy was the week long wait, watching it, through the tracking facility, crawl from the midwest to the SE. Boy, that was slow! The enforced wait was worth it though. The unit fired up straight away, in my car, parked in Walmart's parking lot. It grabbed satellites and within seconds was ready to work. Much fun playing with the options and customising it, the touch screen being sensitive and accurate. The only thing that was not clear, was how to enable the NavTeq lifetime traffic facility. Garmin's excellent web support told me there was no need to do anything, as the unit has the FM receiver in the power cord and will usually pick up any broadcasts after a few minutes of the unit being powered up (you'll know when it has acquired Traffic, by the icon in the top left corner, two cars side by side) I love the TTS (text to speech) option, as often you need to know exactly which left or right to take, and the spoken confirmation really helps. I have downloaded the (free) map updates, but the two gig size really gave the Wi-Fi a workout, so be aware and make sure you are on a fast network. The handsfree is awesome, the way the Garmin talks to my BlackBerry, showing phone book, call log etc, all via Bluetooth, is really cool. I can use the Garmin when at home, as a handsfree unit, which it does well. All in all, this has been one of the best purchases I have made for a long time. The long delay in delivery has made me wary of buying from Wally World again, but the product has more than made up for that, as did W.W's price. Garmin really has done their sums on this one and I look forward to doing some road trips now I don't have to try and read written directions at 70mph! Buy and enjoy!

Works like a charm

Really like the speaking of Street Names for turns- this is an advanced feature not available on the lower end Models. Very easy set-up and use. On 1st Trip, encountered a traffic back-up that had Highway blocked. Immediately hit detour button which allowed us to exit Highway and re-route around accident. Saved about 1/2 hour in returning home. Locating restaurants, hotels, and fuel is all at touch of button if you are out of area.

I did my research!

I purchased the Garmin 265T for my daughter after researching it on Consumer Reports. I chose it because of the spoken street names, bluetooth, lifetime free traffic, and small size. It is a wonderful product! I highly recommend it. I own a Tom Tom One XL S. The screen is hard to read in sunlight. The menu is hard to navigate. The good points are that Tom Tom re-routes you quickly if you miss a turn. Tom Tom also has free points of interest and map corrections that can be downloaded off their website. I recommend you go with the Garmin 265T. You will like all the features and the bright screen display. Garmins are better than Tom Toms in my opinion.

Good Deal for the Price

This GPS is easy to use, has good basic functionality. My favorite thing about the unit is its accuracy on arrival time - which adjusts to the speed you are driving. I always try to map the route on my iphone also to make sure it is not taking me crazy routes because it has done that before. Overall, good value for the money, not always reliable but helpful most of the time. I recommend it.

3. Yes in fact it does display speed limits, very accurately I might add. I thought it was so cool passing a new speed limit sign and watching the GPS correctly display the new speed limit of the road.

4. For major roads, the speed limit will be displayed on the lower left-hand corner of the screen. However, it won't display a speed limit for all roads. Also, on some roads the speed limit listed on the GPS may not entirely be accurate. For example there is a street around my home that is listed as 50mph on the GPS... but the actual speed limit is 40mph.

1. Yes, on both. A cigarette letter power cord is included and the unit is rechargable. Batteries are fine for trips of shorter duration but recommend using power cord for extended trips. The batteries will recharge when the power cord is attached.

2. It comes with a charger for your car and it will charge the internal battery and allow it to run for up to 4 hours if you unplug it. We just leave it plugged in all the time to use the car electric system unless we leave the car so as not to kill our car battery
