Great household helper!
My husband has wanted a Roomba for many years, but I never thought they would be helpful for us until we moved to a house with hardwood and tile floors. We also have a toddler and an elementary school aged child as well as two cats, so there is always crumbs, dirt, and cat hair all over the floors. Since I sweep or vacuum every day, I thought I would try out this Roomba. At first I was skeptical of its ability to clean properly given the relatively small brushes. However, I was really impressed with how well it cleaned up the cracker crumbs on the area rug. We have steps going down to our foyer, and it sensed the steps and cleaned right to the edge. It needed just a 3 hour charge before it was ready to start cleaning. I also like that you can set up the docking station in a corner of the house, and the Roomba automatically returns to dock once it has swept the whole floor. We left it running in the living room yesterday while we went out for dinner, and when we came back, the floor was all swept and looked great, and the Roomba was back charging in its dock. It is really very user friendly, and it even has the option to set up a cleaning schedule. This is super helpful for those with pets in the house. Overall, I recommend it for busy families, and it would probably be really great for older people who may find traditional vacuums too heavy.

Horrible customer service, and failed product.
Disingenuous product offering with horrible customer service. After the roomba was found on our rug for the 6th time, and not in the base, we realized it would quit on our multiple area rugs. Contacted customer support only to find out this vaccum cannot drive over dark patterns in carpet, because it thinks it's the stairs. Not listed anywhere in documentation nor on the box. The solution? Upgrade to the $800 model that they put the "better sensors" in. I'm sorry, sensors that know how to vacuum the floor correctly should be standard if this vacuum is to do its job automatically as that is the only selling point. Automatic empty feature and things like that make perfect sense to me for upgrades. NOT the sensors that make it possible to vacuum over carpet patterns. After I push back and ask for supervisor they offer me the boundary sensors for free. Mind you, these used to be included with this model years ago when irobot was trying to build their reputation. They are clearly less concerned about the customer now. In the end I never recieved my boundary sensors and was left with an automatic vacuum that will not vacuum automatically. Would not even take the vacuum back and give me a refund. This is complete nonsense, and the opposite of a company focused on customer satisfaction.

Outstanding!

I couldn't wait to charge the battery and try it out, it didn't take long to find a good place to set the docking station. The first time I used it I had to occasionally see where it was at, it got lost in the bathroom so I will shut the bathroom door. There are two rugs I have to remove but I have a large area rug in the dining area that it will go over, it will not move on regular carpet.

You can purchase a virtual wall barrier that keeps it in the areas you only want it in. It will stop if it hits an object that it gets caught in. I set the schedule and it took an hour to run the cycle and it docked itself back on the docking station, I would like to see that when it happens, it is cool!

The instructions are easy no lengthy pages. It gets under furniture and that was a real convenience. I am glad I have one of my own, after it's done with it's job I can damp mop and I have clean floors. The floors will stay cleaner longer in between the more thorough mop-pings and it will be easier to get the floor ready for more thorough mop-pings. It gets very close to the edges and under places that regular sweeping can't do as effective a job.

Emptying the bin and cleaning the filter can all be done in one easy step. This is the easiest and best way for sweeping and keeping clean hardwood floors.

GREAT WORKING ROBOT VACUUM TO DO THE WORK FOR YOU!

This small black robot vacuum did an amazing job picking up lots of tracked cat litter, hairs, dust, etc., in about 20 minutes, in my 100 square foot bedroom rug area. After charging a few hours more it was all set to clean rest of house. Took about an hour for the Roomba to vacuum kitchen, dining, living room 8x10 rugs, bare floor, my son's bedroom, and bathroom very well. The side brush took off much dust from baseboards but also took off some white paint. Didn't see any nicks and white paint came off robot easily. Dirt cup holds about a cups worth, and sensors were quite dusty when done, so need to wipe off with clean dry cloth, and clean brushes after each use, so it knows where to go next time :-) Make sure you notify all family members at home when using this, because even though it's not as loud as the bigger uprights, one of our family members almost tripped and stepped on, because it made an unexpected turn, from living room back to kitchen. The super powered sensors make it spin all over looking for dirt, and went back to clean each room 3 times! For now I will use in my room, but keep in area so my cats won't rest their heads on the clean button to start, and wake me up again. Manual also says to not put anything on top of robot because it could mess up the sensors. I would definitely recommend and thank God for newer technology :-)

Hands down worth the $$$$

This thing is amazing! I have 3 dogs and 2 cats that make this house dusty qnd full of hair tumbleweeds! I could run ole Gertie (thats what I named her) every hour and she would still pick dirt and hair up! Time saver deluxe!

I love it!

With bare floors, sandy soil and 2 young kids, I vacuum every day as soon as I get home from work! This has taken such a load off of me! I leave the floors to my robot helper and use my time for other things! I will never be without one again!!!!!!

Better than expected!

With 3 dogs, I got tired of constantly sweeping every day, so I thought I would try the Roomba a few days, knowing I could return it. It was very easy to set up and charge. I programmed it to vac every morning after I left for work. Bottom line, it works much better than expected. Yes, it misses some spots but I now come home to very little, if any dog hair on the floor. I'm noticing my furniture also is less dusty. It has only got stuck a couple of times and that was easily remedied. It's great that it cleans under the beds. From what I can tell, the negative reviews come from people who expect more than it is designed to do. Time will tell about the longevity of this 'bot, but so far, so great!!! I would love to try an upgraded model!

I'm amazed at this tiny vacuum!

I told my family I didn't think I would use one of these robot vacuums. I vacuum almost every day because of a badly shedding dog. Well, for Mother's Day they came over for a cookout & gave me a pretty wrapped box & it was a Roomba 675. I took it upstairs on all carpet & it did an excellent job! Next I did the carpeted bedrooms downstairs & an excellent job. We have a sleep number bed & it did try to run over the tubes & plug-in wire, so I fixed them where they're up now. No big deal. I loved how it did under my beds! Then today I did the hardwood floors. Another fantastic job. I will recommend this to everyone. My son said if I liked it he would get one too, he knows I'm a little over the top on a clean house. Thank you Roomba for a great product, & thanks to my kids & grandkids who gave me a gift I'll use everyday!!!!

The slicker picker- upper

I have dark hardwoods in half of my house which show every crumb and hair ( and I have 3 kids that create piles of crumbs many times a day). The iRoomba614 can clean them up letting me do another needed chore. The smaller the area, the better the clean. The scheduled clean you can set up on your phone works- but be aware that it will set off motion detectors if you have a security system that uses them! I have used it on the carpet and while it doesn't deep clean the carpet like a heavy duty vacuum, the carpet fuzz, lint, debris gets picked up with nice lines left telling you it was vacuumed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

not worth if if you have a dark carpet

bought this to help keep up with the dog, have an area rug with a black stripe on it, if it goes on the carpet it stops and thinks it is near a clif there should be a way to stop that if you live on a single level home. its useless unless you are home to constantly monitor it!
