Better alternative to Nest/Google

This newer model offers a better UI experience with easy to learn controls, settings, and features. I admit I prefer the Google dial to move quickly through menus but the touchscreen on this model more than makes up for it. If you pair it with smart doorbell, it provides a preview screen on the thermostat screen of your doorbell camera and can use the microphone to talk to whoever is at your front door. A nice little feature. I replaced my nest 3rd generation one as it kept going into the W5 error and lack of power.

    Had Ecobee in a rental and bought one for new home

    We had 2 zones in a rental home. Purchased a home that had an old Aprilaire programmable stat. We wanted a WiFi enabled devise and like the ease of the Ecobee so we swapped out the old unit with a Premium model. It's been "learning" our schedule that past 3 weeks and we like it very much.

    Easy to Install (if you do not have only 4-wires)

    The product is great. My first complaint is with the contractors that built the house I bought (~15years old)… they cut all extra wires and left only four wires. I think that EcoBee should have a simple installation based on four wires… instead of having to install the four-to-five wire adaptor at the HVAC (so I took a star away from “Ease of Use”). Other than that, love the product.
