Great for making liquid laundry soap

I use the Duggar's recipe for liquid laundry soap/detergent (Google it for the recipe). I always use pink Zote soap instead of Fels Naptha. Zote is softer and easier to cut, and is a bigger bar. When I make it, I use my Professional Salad Shooter to grate the soap. It makes grating it really fast! The Duggar's recipe makes a 5 gallon bucket undiluted. I like to use a paint mixer that attaches to a drill to mix it. After it has set overnight to cool and jell, I mix it up again to break it up. Then we put 1/2 water and 1/2 liquid soap into a 1 gallon size sun tea jar (plastic) with a spout on the bottom. It works very well for us. We use vinegar as a fabric softener. I used to have a front loader, and this can be used in them (HE), but it broke (not related to the soap) and now we have a top loader. It works well in either.

Great soap!! Laundry Soap recipe with Zote Cut bar into 7equal pieces (about 2oz each). Grate a 2oz. piece in food processor. Melt that in 4 cups of water on the stove on Medium heat. Add 1/2 cup Arm&Hammer Super Washing Soda and 1/2 cup Borax. Stir to dissolve the powders and turn off stove. Mix with 1 gal 3 quarts of hot sink water. Let it gel and cool overnight. Stir and pour into containers with lids. Shake before each use. Use 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup per load of laundry. Do not use aluminum pots because it might destroy it, because of the lye in the bar soap. Walmart carries all the ingredients in my local store. It costs me .61cents to make 2 gallons of Laundry soap, because the washing soda and borax boxes last a while. To make it 2X strength double the ingredients but not the water. Pour directly on stains. Washing soda is not the same as baking soda! It is 100% sodium carbonate the same as PH+ for pools.

ZOTE IS FOR EVERYTHING

I love this soap. I recommended it to my Dog Groomer because it kills fleas, is gentle on my dog's skin, and is not toxic. Most groomers want to use harsh chemicals and dips to kill the fleas and it is really not necessary. She also found that it really whitens the stained fur around the eyes and mouth on white dogs. I also use it to clean glass, fiberglass tubs, ovens and chrome with a Stainless Steel Choreboy on glass top ranges with a little elbow grease. No need for harsh oven cleaners. I also use it on my face & body because of the Coconut Oil base and love how it makes my skin feel. If you can't find it at Wal-Mart, Gibsons & Home Depot carries it. Look up The Uses for Zote Soap on line and see all the uses. Some people even use it for catfish bait. I cut up the large bar into 4 smaller bars and it lasts a long time. People in the business of cleaning need to know about this.

Zote Pink Laundry Soap

I love this laundry soap. No need to cook it on the stove for a liquid detergent. Just grate it. I like to use two parts soap to one part washing soda and one part Boraxo. I use about 1/8 cup of the mixture per load and fill the fabric softener dispenser with white vinegar. My clothes have never been cleaner. The citronella smell is very mild. My clothes smell more like unscented candles (tallow), but it is a clean pleasant smell. All natural and no dangerous chemicals to worry about. You would be surprised what they put into laundry detergents! And it is much cheaper, too. I only wish it was available at all WalMarts. It seems to only be stocked in areas with a higher Latin population. You can put in your zip code to see if there is a WalMart near you that carries it, though.

I love Zote. It takes stains out that have been in the fabric and preset. How it does it, I don't know, but it is remarkable. I have recommended it to many friends and given them a bar of it to try. It is getting hard to find, so Walmart, please continue this item!

  • A. you can go to a lot of work and mix up gallons in a recipe---or you can put a small chunk of the soap cut off the bigger bar-- add it to warm water in a blender and chop it up fine into a sudsy goop and pour it into the top loader-- then put the soapy blender jar into a sink of warm water and rinse out your sponges and brushes with the residue....rinse-repeat rinse for a sparkling blender!!

  • A. I get the fabric wet and then rub the Zote over the stains. Sometimes I rinse and do it again, but I always put it in the washer with the Zote still on the item and let it go through the wash cycle. It comes out really clean.

This page says it's in stock, but only see Fels Naptha.

  • A. It is in the cleaning aisle. Usually on the bottom shelf where it is hard to see. Also, each Walmart may have it in a different place than another Walmart. It becomes a challenge to find at times. I use the pink and/or white on all colors of clothes. Makes whites whiter by taking out the yellow, but does not harm colored clothing.

  • A. If they have it, it would be in the laundry soap isle. But if they don't have it, try Home Depot or Gibsons.

  • A. Are you sure that it says it's in stock at that particular store? One of my local stores carries Zote and the other one has Fels Naptha. I checked again on the store finder page when I got home and I was looking for it at the wrong location. It would definitely be in the laundry aisle. If it's not just ask a clerk. I just noticed that this is an old question but I decided to answer anyway! Hope you've found it by now.

  • A. Ask associates, they usually have this or the Fels Naptha which I prefer, don't like the way this smells.
