The unit works mostly as expected. As some others have reported, the heat sealing mechanism fails to completely fuse and seal the bag's contents, resulting in the vacuum being lost. To overcome this engineered shortcoming, after the normal vacuum and sealing cycle, I press only the "seal" button again without removing the bag and the unit reheats, fusing the plastic bag satisfactorily. The unit does fuse the first seal when making a bag from a roll satisfactorily. When sealing bags holding food, the heat seams to be inadequate to fuse the plastic bag completely, allowing the vacuum to slowly be lost. Also, when sealing damp or wet items, the moisture will further interfere with the fusing and sealing of the plastic bags. There is enough bag material left over when making the first vacuum seal to dry the bag ends and make a second heat seal only, therefor double fusing or sealing the bag opening. Otherwise, for the cost, the unit performs satisfactorily.
