It will depend on where you are fastening the shelf, for example if you are just hanging it on sheet rock you will more than likely require anchors and keep in mind the amount of weight you are planning on the shelf holding. If this is going to go into a stud you will want wood screws long enough to to secure the shelf. We would recommend speaking with your local hardware store as to how you are planning on hanging and they can best direct you to the correct hardware.

We used 2 inch screws and made sure to set them in the studs in the wall. Just make sure the head fits into the hole on the shelf.

I had read all the reviews on this before I ordered BUT ordered anyway. It is exactly what I wanted and what the description says! I was more disappointed with the reviews I had read, because I can usually depend on them. It is unfinished wood! Yes the brackets are stapled on but mine were not loose and I ordered three! The brace on back is glued on, no problems with any of mine! They are very well priced compared to a lot of other shelves I looked at! I let my son decide if he wanted to paint or stain his. We did sand down one of the ends but was not an issue, it says unfinished wood. It is cut perfect and if I later have to add a few nails I am still happy! It already has the grooves in the back to hang them, there is no way I could have made it better myself. It also has a small groove in the back to keep something from slipping. They were shipped really fast. Yes they came in a cardboard box, they had shipping paper wadded up at both ends but there were no issues with it at all. Shelf fit in box perfectly and they were not too heavy. I am defiantly going to order some more.

Many shelves I looked at were $30-$40 and that is crazy.  This can be easily finished and at a fraction of the price!

Great shelf and great price

I read previous reviews of this shelf being made poorly, so although I took that into consideration, for the price point, I am very happy with the shelf. If you are looking for high quality, then this isn't for you, but if you are looking for a nice solid shelf you won't be disappointed. I painted my shelf and hung in on a wall in my kitchen and it looks adorable and holds in place nicely. If you are hanging on drywall, make sure you use anchor screws. One thing I wish I would of done, although after hanging and displaying is where the shelf is stapled in certain places, I should of use putty to fill in the small gaps. Also the edge of the shelf is not cut smoothly, one would wanted to sand paper before painting. I will definitely buy another to use next to or above the shelf I hung.

Nice looking shelf

Has a plate groove at the back of the shelf  which was not in the description. This was the only rough area that needed to be sanded. Used a medium brown stain which the wood soaked up

These are just what I needed but they could be put together a little bit better! There was a couple of loose pieces but a couple of small nails fixed them right up. I painted them and they are very pretty!

Good product

I bought this and painted it myself, probably could have used a little more sanding down before i did, was a little unfinished feeling but not splintery and looks great now! Very sturdy and a great size for the cost, the feet are attached to the shelf itself unlike other shelves where you hang the feet then set the shelf on top. It's all one piece.

Great price, sturdy shelf

This is definitely a cheaply-made shelf. However it is perfect for holding knick knacks like trophies and stuff for your kids. Since it is unfinished wood it will absorb cheap spray paint. If you're going to paint it make sure that you buy primer and paint in one.

Cheaply Made, Worth the Price.

VERY, VERY, VERY cheaply built. I purchased two(2) of different size, and they were shipped seperately,and both were falling apart in the box. I had to repair BOTH of them before I could even attempt to stain them . They had pieces falling off, staples sticking out holding nothing, staples splitting the wood. Definately not worth the money or time.

Not worth it

Parts are loose; no glue used; only 7 staples holding it together. Unsanded with edge chips. I basically rebuilt it and then painted it. Worth about $7; paid almost twice that.
