Great Quality and Comfort
As advertised the Original 8053 is oversized (purchased a 10 when I normally buy a 10.5) and it is well-made, looks classy for dress or casual, and is very comfortable.

One shoe is bigger than the other.
I used to live in a British colony. So, I was familiar with Dr. Martens shoes and I wore their shoes as a part of my school uniform there. I bought these shoes from this site a couple weeks ago and I was totally disappointed. The right shoe is bigger than the left one and it keeps on slipping off my heel. The collars on the upper of the shoes are not leather as described in this site. The collars are actually made of rubbery man-made material -- definitely not leather. Please be aware. I hope my comment will help you not throwing your money away.

Awesome Dress or Casual Shoes

Upon receiving the new shoes, I tried them on. Walked around in them. Perfect fit. No break in period needed. Extremely comfortable. I use orthotics with all of my shoes.

Great shoe!

This is my first experience with Docs. I've always thought they were cool looking shoes, and everyone who had them said how comfortable they were. I'm a men's 7.5 US. My foot is narrow and thin. These shoes run large in my experience (which is corroborated by the info on the web page). Docs don't come in half sizes, and they suggest to size down to the next whole size. Docs are also sized in UK, which translates one size smaller than US. So I ordered a size 6. Out of the box, they felt quite tight across the arch, and they're quite stiff. However, I've worn them, all told, for about 3 days now. At first my feet really hurt, but I can tell the shoes are loosening up. Today they feel much better. I'm betting that after a week, they'll break in and feel great. I'm happy sizing down a half size; YMMV however, depending on your foot. The shoes are long enough; just tight over the arch for me. The insole is removable and doing so creates a bit more width, but subtracts some comfort from the footbed. I find the quality OOB is top drawer; nice leather, well made, even, true stitching. I don't find that they feel spongy or bouncy, but they're softer to walk in than any other leather Oxford I've worn. I recomend these shoes, with the caveat to do your homework on sizing. You might want to size them in a brick and mortar store before purchasing online, because fitting appears to be a personal and intentional task with these bad boys. I'm finding shoes.com customer service adequate to the task.
Great shoe! No break in period. I am on my feet all day. Wore them for 12 hours day one, no discomfort or tender spots on my feet. Every other shoe I have ever had, there was always a sore spot somewhere on my foot. Not with these.

Love em

Always loved Dr Martens...nice enough to wear to my business casual work environment, but still stylish enough to wear when going out. I usually wear a 10 to 10.5 triple E and these size 11 fit great.

Happy to go the classic route

The Original 8053 DMC meets all my preferred specifications. I'm a big Doc Marten's fan from way back, and this one could not be interpreted as anything but Doc Martens. It is solid, comfortable, long-lasting, understated, but highly recognizable. Perhaps it is the case that I'm getting older, but my more recent Doc Marten purchases somehow started pinching me, but since I went up one size, the feel is perfect.

Comfortable

Comfy right out of the box. My only complaint is I couldn't seem to take the insole out to add an orthotic. They do have a fairly nice built in arch.

Spring Step Fan

Love Spring Step shoes, the Racer is light weight, comfortable, just a tad bit short. Sould have purchased next size up.

Runs Small and Narrow

cute shoe but too short and too narrow for my size 10.5M foot.
