This Tablet is Amazing

I was honestly pretty nervous about picking up this tablet at first because I couldn't find any reviews anywhere but when I got it I was really surprised at how well it is made and how well it functions its really great.

The lack of formal reviews on the WikiPad is astonishing and it prompted me to write one. I wanted a 7” tablet and I did extensive research on the Kindle HD and Nexus 7. After comparing specs on the three it came down to the Nexus 7 and Wikipad becuase of their Quad Processors, I decided on the Wikipad because it has expandable memory, a Mini HDMI slot AND a controller for around the same price as the Nexus 7, not to mention it comes with Tegra Zone and PlayStation Network. The device is extremely thin and light with very solid construction. The controller does not feel cheap but it could have been refined a bit more, perhaps thinner since I can see people with smaller hands having trouble (My hands measure about 7” from the bottom of my palm to the tip of my middle finger). My first impressions on the OS are mixed, app shortcuts are scattered all over the place, luckily android allows you to tailor this to your liking. Out of the Games that come preinstalled Shadow Gun is my favorite, it is reminiscent of Quake, has online death match, and lets you customize the thumb stick sensitivity. Running emulators on the device is great, GBA, N64, Genesis, SNES all work great and allow you to program the controller without a hitch. PSX emulator was a different story, I was not able to program the triggers, still trying to figure this out. Another thing that works great that I am shocked the developers failed to mention is that the Wikipad fully supports ONLIVE. I can play Dirt 3 and Split second without a problem, although I wish my internet speed was a bit faster the inclusion of this is an added plus. Thumb sticks, triggers, and buttons all work (No programming required). I bought 3 games on Play Station Network and the thumb sticks don’t work on any of them. I contacted Wiki Support and they said that they are working on adding support for the controller. Mini HDMI out put works fine, I connected it to my 50” Panasonic Plasma 3D TV and played dead trigger, there was a little bit of lag on the mirror but playable and have not tried it since, a little more experimenting required. I want to use Netflix or onlive. Also the tablet recognized my 32GB micro SD no problem. One issue I did have is that the built in speakers don’t go nearly as loud as I feel they should. My first gen kindle fire greatly outperforms it in this respect. My overall impression of the tablet are great, I am glad I decided to go with it, the battery life is great controller works like I hoped (I was tired of lugging around an uncomfortable wii remote everywhere) I hope that there is more support from game developers. Grand Theft auto plays fine as does assassins creed but these are games I have played before. I would like to see big game franchises start coming down to android platform. (Once the piracy issues are fixed they say) Hope this helps everyone. This is my first review, so go easy on me.
Great product!! What more can you ask for tablet with slide in gaming controls. Able to play games like your home while sitting at the airport or relaxing on the beach. When not playing games just slide off gaming controls and now you have full functional tablet.Great buy.

Easy to use, Great Controller

The Wikipad is a great product for gaming. The physical controller makes the product really unique and allows for a smooth gameplay. I feel like I'm playing a mobile XBOX. Also, the graphics and tablet are incredible as well. This is definitely a great buy and I would recommend the Wikipad to all gamers.

completely overwhelmed and surprised

I bought this for my son -- it started out as a price and a spec war decision (he wanted a tablet for his birthday ) The specs and gamepad swung it but I wasn't expecting that much honestly but I have to say I am completely stunned is this THE best kept secret of electronics! As a tablet its roaringly fast getting on the internet and browsing woosh! I noticed someone did some benchmarking in a blog/facebook afterward and it came out tops I am not surprised it seems incredibly fast to me I have to say when I have my tablet ( IPAD ) test side by side just getting on the internet the wikipad won hands down. I am truly shocked how good this tablet is and I am a hardcore Apple fan!- It truly is as another reviewer wrote little engine that can! I absolutely never write reviews but I promised myself I would this time because my boy simply loves it ! He certainly has a lot of fun with it--car journey problems with his sisters are now a thing of the past - peace has broken out -- she watches Tinkerbell he plays games -- by the way the Tennis game from Sega is quite exceptional and you'll catch me playing that! As a behavior stick for my boys the threat they cant use it is enough - it truly is an awesome product-- If the boys are noisy in the restaurant out it comes perfect! I am surprised there isn't much press on this product at all and I quite stumbled across it by accident - I feel I have discovered something great -- never happened before --the only criticism I would have is the pre loaded dead trigger is a bit gruesome but its easy to uninstall There are plenty of games for it and the boys are working through the list on the website and fortunately most games are $2 so the cost of ownership is very cheap. My old consoles has been consigned to catch dust! It was certainly a huge surprise birthday hit and the talk of all his friends and other kids wherever we go even now. Frankly its an awesome tablet and the best kept secret - I never liked a product as much as this for a long time and FOR LOTS OF REASONS ( I can zzzzzz in the morning ) Great present, thoroughly recommend if your on the edge--its just much more versatile than you would think its a top end tablet with a solid games machine 10 out of 10 -- I never do that! Happy gaming!
I bought this after learning that the nvidia shield got delayed. I must say this thing is very light and comfortable to use. Wikipad website has a list of game that are compatible with the controller. Overall this makes games so much better to play. I would recommend this over my nexus 7 any day of the week. You can also charge this while the controller is plugged in. Very happy with this purchase and at 250 it doesn't break the bank either.

Best gaming tablet on the market!

I'm an avid console gamer looking for the best game tablet. After purchasing several products, including the Archos Gamepad and Razer Edge, the Wikipad was far and away the closest match and overall best experience. It could still use a few minor improvements but it delivers on the promise.
Awesome product. Exceeds expectations

Awesome Gaming Tablet

This thing is amazing. Controller is smooth and tablet is high quality. Price is slightly more than what a normal 7"er would cost so it's definitely worth it.

Kids will love it...

I saw three kids ages 6 to 10 play on the wikipad prototype. THEY WERE MESMERIZED!!!!! They didn't miss a beat. I saw the prototype, I do not yet own one.
