Bought this about two months ago in the highest heat of the North Carolina summer. It cools our 400 sq. ft room with no problem. The vent points upward, so we turn on our ceiling fan (mid-level speed) and it spreads the cool air right over our seating area below. Even if we turned on the AC at the end of a hot day (when the heat index had hit 105 degrees), it would quickly lower the temp in the room to a tolerable level. Can't wait to use the heater feature this winter.

great for high ceilings
June was hottest June in New Mexico since 60s we were told. We have 18 foot ceilings in our living room -- the AC was easy to install and we use it almost every day. We may buy a smaller one for the bedrooms but for now it cools us and is quik about doing so if we've had it off for awhile.
Pleasantly suprised... Works very well!
I purchased this some months back and to be honest, I didn't want to evaluate it until the heat of the summer was upon us here. I had my doubts about how effective the unit would perform given the flow of air shoots upward and it gets really hot here..110's are not out of the question. It's cooling approx. 400 sq ft of living space, basically like an apartment setup, bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom, and it so far has been wonderful. It keeps things comfortable during the day, runs quieter than the unit I replaced with it and at night, it literally gets cold! It was very easy to set up. I definitely recommend this unit.
best thing I ever bought for last summer!
I bought the AC last summer, i loved it ever since. Easy to install, well built and sleek design. Perfect for 400 sq ft room. Keeps my room cold or warm depending on the weather.
Excellent Unit and Quality Made
This unit is well made and provides excellent heating and air function. Easy to use and sleekly designed. It provides sufficient heat to even an oversized room. The customer service representatives at friendly and helpful with any questions about the unit. Worth every penny...

LUXURY ITEM.....a standard of exxcellence
i bought this and its so luxury i want to budget yo run it 24-7 can your staff help me understand the electric cost in running the wynter 14sh 14000btu dual hose
Works great but has design issues
The unit works great. Easy to use. The window exhaust hose system is not the usual accordion style for different widths. The system uses a slide system. So if you need to extend the width, it slides outward. This causes 2 different heights. This is difficult to seal the plate from the outside. The hose connection to the window plate does not seal well either. I had water come in during a rain storm. I live in a humid area. The unit itself is great. The window plate needs definite re-engineering.
Not cooling down or heating up....
I got Whynter ARC-14SH for a year but I only used it twice because it never cools down a room of 250-300 ft. It was 90 degrees outside, I installed dual host, set machine to 70 degree and ensured window and door closed well but indoor temperature is 85 degrees and won't go any lower. After 1 hour, I gave up and just use a fan. Twice or three times trying. I surely think I got a trash and lost $450. I can't return it because it is not considered as broken and sent it back I have to pay shipping fee. So I saved it to winter and use it as a heater but it was heating up either. I contacted whynter for help but they keep sending me the manual and insisted I need wait for refrigeration starting. My god I have waited long enough for everything to happen. So it become a trash staying in my closet because I don't want to throw out $450.
