Pay No Mind to the Negative Reviews!

I read all the negative and positive reviews on this product before I went to my local store to buy it. The negative reviews certainly did rule my mind and I was VERY hesitant to buy it, especially after reading that it didn't like to stay running. Here's the part to pay attention to - Don't follow the starting instructions to the "T". Follow all steps until it starts up with Half Choke - STOP THERE! The negative reviews were correct that with Full Choke it will bog down and stall when you pull the throttle trigger. But if you run it at Half Choke she runs like a champ! As for any other reviews saying it doesn't have enough power or anything like that - all lies. By the time I bought this I had grass that, at some spots, was almost up to my knees. With a logical approach I chopped right through even the roughest, toughest weeds. My only complaint was that there is no telescoping neck and I'm pretty tall. Not uncomfortable to use, but it could be a little longer. For $65 I definitely think it's worth the price!

Overall this has been a good product since I bought the weedeater. I was tired of the batter powered one I had running out of charge so I decided to go back to a gas trimmer. Used it a few times and so far it has preformed very well for the price. I do not think you could beat the deal of $65 for the trimmer and even bought the extended warranty(which I normally never do) for only $6. I would say the only reason I give it four stars and not five is when you do rev up the motor to full speed in heavier weeds it seems to hesitate a bit and seems to run out of steam. However it is good for 95% or better of the grass and weeds in my lawn. Very impressed that it does not smoke much at all(all 2 cycles will have a little with oil in the gas). After a decade hiatus from gas trimmers I am satisfied with this trimmer. If you have a lawn in the city that is a typical 1/4 acre or less this is perfect for you. If you go over a 1/2 acre or have think amounts of weeds and grass then you might want to go with a larger gas trimmer.

I have been using this for six years and it has performed great. I read some other reviews that weren't favorable and I can only conclude that Weed Eater trimmers aren't consistent or that the reviewers don't know how to operate one.

    • A. So are you asking or telling. And if it isn't your first weed eater you should know there is no trick. Mix the fuel, take the cap off, pour the fuel in the tank, put the cap back on, push the fuel primer 2 or 3 times to remove the air in the lines and prime the carb, move the choke to full position and while squeezing the trigger pull till you hear it try to start; no more than 6 times, then move the choke lever to half choke and pull the starter rope till it runs keeping the trigger squeezed. Let it run about one minute till it runs smooth then move the choke lever to the run position. Start eating weeds.

    • A. 1., FIRST.....make SURE the Gas is FRESH. 2. Make sure the gas doesn't have TOO much oil ratio or it will never start. 2.5 ounces per GALLON is all you need. 1.25 ounces per half-Gallon. Do mix too much at once. Set full choke until it sounds like it wants to start. Set the choke to HALF and let it run. See my review when posted in a few days for adjustments.

    • A. depress primer bulb 3 - 7 times. move choke selector lever to full choke position.fully depress accelerator trigger and pull starter cord til it fires ,,,,usually by the third pull on cord. now,,, if running, quickly move choke lever to half choke position while pulsing accelerator trigger. run in this position briefly ,,,then move choke lever to run position. if it refuses to start/ run ,,,, move choke lever to half choke position ,,,,fully depress accelerator trigger and pull on starter cord til it fires,,,,run briefly, then while pulsing accelerator lever move choke lever to run position. still no start, check fuel .use fresh fuel only. good luck!

    • A. When the length of the line seems to be getting too short (you can also know this when the trimmer does not quickly remove the weeds), bump tyhe head briskly to advance the line. Be sure to bump the head on something soft like the adjacent grass and NOT the concrete or your bump head will wear out quickly.
