I have been using Waterpik since May of 2009 daily. I decided it is time to buy a new one in spite of the fact my almost 8 year old model was working just fine. The new model is exactly the same except maybe lighter in weight. The important fact about a Waterpik is what it does for you. It cleans out plaque and food particles caught between teeth or in your gums. If I get a sore spot in one of the gums around a tooth, it is usually something like popcorn hulls caught in that spot. No need to go to the dentist. Just blast away with the Waterpik and problem solved. I always use a combination mixture of water and mouth wash. It works great. I wish I knew about Waterpik back in 1975 before I had a gum recession procedure by a dental professional. I would recommend Waterpik to anyone.

This model replaced our Waterpik WP- 60W. My husband and I are very happy with the performance of the WP-100. In comparison between the two models there are a couple of things we liked better with the WP100. 1. It is less noisy than the 60W. 2. The pressure control dial on the base is easier to use than the slide switch on the handle. There never seemed to be a graduated difference with the 60W slide switch, it was difficult to slide and it only produced either a very weak or too strong water pulse. The WP100 dial settings from 1-10 do exactly what you would expect - a weaker pulse graduating up to the strongest so you can achieve a medium pulse. The WP100 does hold less water but I keep a cup of water handy and refill as needed. We use the WP100 daily and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced oral irrigator.

    Waterpik for dental health
    7/23/2014

Four months ago, my dentist's hygienist recommended the Waterpik Water Flosser after it was determined that I had gum pockets that needed extra attention besides just brushing and flossing; she wanted to make sure that I got the unit that had the tip for gum care. It was difficult at the time of the recommendation to find any kind of a Waterpik in a retail store locally, so I turned to the Walmart.com site. I was glad I found the unit that would fit my needs and at a price much lower than anything else I found online, and I was able to have it shipped to my store for pickup free of charge! I just had my three-month follow up dental cleaning and the hygienist commented that there was significant improvement in the health of my gums. Although I do not use the Waterpik every day, I will continue to use it at least three times a week as I have been doing so far. The unit that I purchased had TWO of every type of attachment and was color coded so both my husband and I are able to benefit from this product!

Dislodges far more than brushing does

I bought this a few weeks ago after debating it for months having a hard time justifying the high price. After finally breaking down and buying it I can say that I am soo glad I did and would highly recommend it to anyone. The first day I brushed my teeth like I normally did and then used this for the fist time. What came out of my mouth was nothing less than embarrassing. This pick was able to dislodge all kinds of stuff that normal brushing just does not even touch. I do this process every day and every day the pick cleans out a lot more than the brush is able to get. I am still in shock how much regular brushing misses.

    • A. I fill my water Waterpik with water and then I put a dash of 3% hydrogen peroxide in the Waterpik. The hydrogen peroxide clears bacteria from my mouth and prevents junk from growing inside the Waterpik. If your Waterpik is already "yucky", you can put a little bleach and water inside and leave it for a few hours. Then just rinse it out. If you taste residual bleach. It won't cause you any harm in very dilute form. The most common tip is made of plastic and can be cleaned or wiped if more than one person will use this. Users can also switch tips. The WP-100 includes 6 different tips.
