I was amazed at how fast MyBook got to work without formatting, Oh I did make a lot of folders but the primary ones only totaled three. I like the drive better than the Seagate drives available. I would recommend anyone to add-on storage space via USB, its so simple and now there's a 3.1 version which is above this 3.0 USB.

MyBook is Totally Amazing
Works well, pretty fast
Works fine right out of the box. It's USB 3.0, so it's pretty fast for an external drive. I didn't install any of the software, I just use it as an extra drive to store files on, but it works great for that.
Extenal hard drive
Well i think is great easy to use and i love the storage i download 1,000 cd i have that is old clasuc rock and i got a lot space left and the prices is fantatic .
Local Wal-Mart honored the online price!
This review is of the Wal-Mart site and the local store. I haven't had the drive long enough to know whether it will last, but after a couple of weeks it has been fine. I wanted to point out that this drive was listed for $119 online, but the site said that because I was picking it up locally, it would be $129. Later, we saw a $10 credit from our purchase, and we didn't even ask about it.
Good Hard Drive
I brought this and using as external storage for my Xbox One S, very easy to setup and not big hard drive at all. No fan keep it cool and turns off when I'm not using it. Plus with 4 tb have a ton space for all the video games I store on it. If need space for a game console or computer buy this won't be disappointed.
Incompatible with WD Smartware!!!!!
I was not informed by sales literature or WD website that this drive (part of the new series of drives) is not compatible with WD Smartware Backup software until I looked very deep into their website.. The replacement software (My Backup) will not install on any of my 5 computer systems. It sucks.
External hard drive used for laptop backup
Well made, but too difficult to format for MAC. Returned it and bought The Passport 4TB external drive made for MAC instead, which is an excellent item and very easy to use. Plug it in and there you go, no trouble at all, as this one is made expressly for Apple.
Do not buy
RIP off! i purchased this tried to get it replaced they as in the "manufacture warranty" Western Ditgail ( RMA team) told me that I had tampered with it. and they refuse to return it. I called to store manager I was told they will help me BUT. since I am being ripped off my hardworking money. I am without it. do not buy any WD drives. they set up for you to update to go to thier web site . it never worked with my computer. I could not find the file to transfer my files. I just wanted to have a large extrenal storage to save my photo and documents. do not buy this . I want to give this zero stars so I give it 5 poops.
Kaput after 6 mos.
Stopped working after 6 months. At least my previous WD My Book managed to last 2 months over the warranty. Really sucks to lose data. Apparently WD builds these cheaply so there are less backup mechanisms and you're more prone to get your data wiped. I'm done with WD, sticking with Toshiba they have yet to fail me.
The device would not turn on. After attempting multiple times, realized I have a defected device. I was not able to return it to WalMart because it was pass the allowed time.
