I wanted an optic for my every day carry system and this works perfect. When things are a bit far and I couldn't see them as good as I would have liked I felt the need to get some kind of optic. With the size of other optics I knew that some kind of monocular would be the perfect tool for the job. With so many to choose from where do you start? Well like every other system it starts with your personal needs. How clear is the glass, how much do you want to spend, how heavy is the unit, is it to bulky, how am I going to carry it? These are just some of the things you have to think about. I went with the Vortex solo for all of those reason and I could even go on. It is clear as I would ever want and has a great range of focus. Hands down best in it's price range. Now let me tell you a bit about hayneedle.com... These guys know the gear they sell. I asked the rep that took my order a few things to test him in a way and he passed big time. The last thing I want to do is ask a rep about a product they sell and they don't know anything about it. That's a sign to me that it is all about the money. To make the deal even better this item shipped free and it was on my door step in less then 48hrs. Yeah, I was surprised. Once I place an order I am like a kid that can't wait for christmas. I rate the optic with a 5 star rating and would rate hayneedle.com the same way... 5 stars for hayneedle.com!!! To see a review style video on this product go to youtube and type in joe tactical vortex and the video should come up. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you enjoy your new optic. I had a need for an e.d.c. monocular!
Great clarity, compact
I will be using this scope for many different uses . I like the 10x but haven't tried it out on the boat yet . I'm thinking 10 x might be to strong for moving around on the water. I would recommend the 8x for boating .
Easy to carry, great glass
I recieved my Solo about 4 years ago, but I haven't used it for"normal" outdoor activities much at all. I bring it with me on the farm, in the pickup or on the tractor. It's small enough to ride in a cargo pocket and is rugged enough that I've had no problems with it. The glass is extremely clear(especially for the price), but the FOV is fairly tight(makes sense with the relatively small size and highish magnification) . My only regret is that I didn't step up to buy one with a ranging reticle.
Great things do come in small packages.
I’m an LEO/ SWAT Team member and I have purchased a couple of these for work. I carry one in my duty bag for patrol. The other one I carry in a small pouch on my tac vest. The solo is perfect for those times you can’t afford to carry a traditional set of binoculars.
