I've been a Virgin mobile customer since July. I bought their cheapest phone (the Jax) just to see if their service was any good. It wasn't good, it was great. I had features with Virgin that T-mobile didn't offer, for a price that nobody could beat. I liked my Jax, but when my camera died, I decided to think about a better phone with a camera. Enter the Rumor 2.
Before I activated the phone I tested it out for a couple of days. I played with the camera, the setting, etc...and found them to be fine for a phone in this price range. The phone itself is very solid with just enough features to make me happy. Is it a Droid? NO! Will it take decent pictures, send text and email, play mp3s? YES. In fact, in addition to the full, slide-out 4 row qwerty keyboard which is easy to navigate, it has an easily accessible micro sd (i.e. it's not under the battery) and unlike many of their Beyond Talk phones, this one works on Paylo as well! I have it on the $30 Paylo plan right now but can switch between the two plans as needed. Versatility is a beautiful thing.
So, the good: FULL QWERTY, very good call quality, WORKS WITH BEYOND TALK AND PAYLO, accessible micro sd means never having to send yourself a picture or a song:)
The average: 1.3mp camera could be a little better (see picture).
The bad: Only 3 real ringtones, games are demos:(
One more note because I see people ask this question all the time...This is a CDMA phone. That means that you can't jam in your SIM card because they don't use them. Also, this is not a phone you can unlock. It is for use with Virgin Mobile only. They may share Sprint lines, but you can only use it with Virgin...not Sprint, Boost, PagePlus, Verizon, ATT or TMobile, or Straight Talk. I hope that helps.
