I first have to say I live way out in the country and getting connection is VERY RELIABLE. No dropped service and I am always able to connect. My reason is stated below and if Wal-Mart decides not to carry a contract with them I will find another option to go with. That being said Virgin Mobile change their plans on a regular basis and purchasing through their online store is outrageous in price. Originially their plans were 1 month for so much data. Now they have added a time limit which you watch the meter go down very quickly. Wal-Mart online is your best bet for top-up. Do not plan on walking into a Wal-Mart and find a top-up card on the shelf. I work for Wal-Mart and it truly is a hit and miss thing at all of my areas stores. Wal-Mart is contracted with them so only purchase through Wal-Mart, it's MUCH cheaper. I just purchased it online through Wal-Mart and that will be how I top-up from here on out. It was a fast, class act purchase!

This refill is good for 1 gig of data. I found virgin (sprint towers) to be a solution for my occasional need when traveling. 1 gig is plenty for most users unless you are downloading movies or lots of pictures and music. Had signed up for the 5 gig and found I did not even use 1 gig. This is great for someone who does not want to get tied to a 2 year contract and actually cheaper also. I have found sprint to have superior coverage and service compared to other wireless data providers and I travel all over the country. You must purchase the air card which is less $80 which is the only drawback but you will not have to pay $120 + to cancel the service if you don't keep it for 2 years. I know I had to pay sprint $120.

Purchase process was quick and easy HOWEVER you may not use this to purchase the $20, 1 month, 1GB plan for a device that was not purchased at Walmart. If you bought the device, or were given a device, anywhere else, you cannot purchase this plan I would not have purchased this top-up card if I had known that. This restriction is not on the Walmart site anywhere that I could find. Nor was it anywhere on the VM site.

For the price, you get 1Gb per month of data transfer. So far, after three weeks of downloads, games, facebook and web surfing, I haven't used half that. The web interface for the MiFi lets you see how much you have used.

I needed 3G Internet for my laptop for the Troopmaster software at Boy Scout meetings, but I didn't want to pay top dollar for cellular broadband. The Broadband2Go USB stick wasn't too expensive, and gave me a plenty fast connection for what I needed. The software Installed pretty easily. But after the first month, I wanted to switch from using a TopUp card to using my credit card. The switch did not go smoothly. The Web site that is used to manage your account settings is tricky to navigate. I did figure out how to change my payment method, but then it gave me an error and told me I had to call technical support. After waiting on hold for a while, I gave up and hung up, but then all of a sudden the Web site recognized my payment method change and I was able to start using the connection again. So in short, it's a great value for the price, but you might want to think about other options if you aren't especially computer savvy.

I would love to get the $20 data plan next month for my mifi that I bought at Best Buy because Walmart was sold out. So my question is.....Is there a part of the online buying process of this $20 top up card that says I need a unit that is bought from Walmart? Because I can see no warning or anything right now online that says I need a special mifi unit!! So I am hoping this will work for me on my non walmart mifi. Please let me know so i do not waste $20. Thank you :)

    • A. virginmobileusa.com mentions the $20/1GB deal only for WalMart's devices (click Terms of Service at the bottom, then Virgin Mobile Svc. Plan, read up Broadband2Go Plans at end of page). They can tell bc Wal-Mart's devices start w/ #091 when you register to login. Note the $50/unlim. plan slows down at 2.5GB until you add molre $ into acct.

    • A. I was told by MANY people that you did NOT have to purchase your modem at Wal-mart, BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE. You DO have to purchase the modem at Walmart to be able to USE the cards. Whether you purchase the MiFi or the Virgin Mobile 760 you still have to purchase it at Walmart to use that $20. 1 GB card. The $40. 5GB card is no longer available unless you started with it before February 14th.

    • A. It probably won't work. I have the M760 usb stick that I bought at Radio Shack. I ordered the $20 1 GB on line from Walmart, but when I go to activate it there is no $20 1 GB option, only $10 100 MB for 10 days, or $40 unlimited for 30 days. So ihad to use the $10 option twice, wich gave 200 MB for 20 days. Not nearly the value of the $20 1 GB for 30 days. It must know which units were purchased at Walmart.

    • A. You will only discover after you have purchased the card that you will not be able to purchase the $20, 1 month, 1GB plan. You will still have the $20 on your VM account but only to purchase the $10 or $40 plan. I am not a happy camper.

    • A. Yes, if you purchased the MIFI at Walmart. You can also set up VM to use a credit card and pay there. (or use the Walmart $20 data chargeup car and save a couple of cents)

    • A. the 20 dollars is used as credit to a vmbb account. Go to VMBB and log in, select the 20 dollar (walmart) plan, then instead of putting in a credit card put in the PIN code received via email or printed on the VMBB card from walmart. Then, check your account in an hour or two and it will reflect start date and MB left. I've used 600mb and still have a week left on mine. 40 unlimited does not report mb used. The timer starts on the VMBB card when you buy it at Walmart. Don't buy til you are ready to use it.

    • A. There does not appear to be such a program even though it is advertised. I have purchased 2 devices (one with the $20/1gb sticker!) and neither reflect it. The only options given are 100mb/$10 or Unlimited/$40.
