I was researching the Legacy of Assassin's Creed, I wanted a first hand look at how the story progressed, So, I bought the entire series.
Of the grouping, I found this title and Black Flag and Rogue the most acceptable games of the series, Rogue of course being the least likable of the 3 games and least playable of the three.
Unity contains a whole lot to do, missions and the story is reasonably short considering but it is a decent amount to keep interested in for a time.
There is a huge points issue however, The points needed for skills are nearly nonexistent and rarely can you get enough to fully upgrade your character Arno. He will run and jump and do nearly all you need him to, but there are severe glitches in his main story and in his Cafe Theater that should have been corrected. Blocks in his ability to walk or traverse exist in some places and the lack of points for skills makes this less than adequate to play to the fullest. The game is lacking 20+ points in that area and you will never see him fully upgraded to his max as that is never possible.
I am so angry at this point the rest of my review is pointless.
There are no boats in the game, I was hoping for something like a pirate ship, lots of shooting and the same over and over again killing maneuvers makes this repetitive to the point of tears.
The controls again are nonstandard and do not resemble anything from future or past games, you will have to retrain yourselves to play each of the series and will be in luck if you don't plunge to your death every time you want to jump from a building.
The constantly changing maps and lack of input you get for the history and the locale makes solving the Nostradamus legends very hard, I had to look up play inline to answer the puzzles since they are vague and tell nothing about history and the actual meaning behind any clues. If you grew up in France, had a Canadian as a parent or studied in detail the French Revolution you may have a chance, or maybe not you also have to have detailed knowledge of France, history and Paris, Versailles or whatever city you're in just to find any of the clues.
Spent 2 hours walking around doing eagle vision until I developed a migraine and then went to look at videos so my eyes would stop hurting.
The collection of money is good, a little on the slow and light side, but given time you can earn a positive cash flow to buy, but that will not really matter since you haven't mission or points enough to really buy or earn the really good value items. And, the ones they will not give you in missions aren't worth anything even after you spend hours solving stupid riddles, puzzles or murders.
Overall, the game was fantastically graphic in the sense the visuals were good, the time spent on story and awards needed work and the time spent on fixing and debugging glitches nonexistent.
Would have loved to had the opportunity to actually get all the skills and complete the cycle without finishing the game incomplete.
