I cook this rice in the oven with pork chops. An excellent easy, cheap meal. Just brown your bone in chops, place in a pan with un-cooked rice (follow instructions on packet for rice) add a can of cream of mushroom soup and bake at 350 for about 50 minutes
This item cooks well in the microwave and on the stove, however, the instructions have you cook it at medium power and it ends up taking longer than stovetop. I just cook it for the time it says at high power, but I have a 900 watt oven. Make sure you let it sit to absorb the water. I always add extra butter but it doesn't need it. If I'm not making white or Spanish rice, this is our go-to rice.
Please get rid of the "Ready" Rice--the texture & flavor are both terrible. I've thrown away entire meals made with it; it's that bad! Bring back the boxed version because, as your comments here show, THAT'S the one all of us love & miss!

Some products are just better. I am fine with most generics, cheaper brands, etc., but I have found a few brands that stand out so much, I only buy them. Uncle Ben's rice is one of those - definitely fresher and better tasting.
