Yes, the price is a bit excessive, but for those saying you can get an original in the same condition for this price or less...are simply wrong. If you want a solid MINT Optimus Prime, this is your only bet. Otherwise youâre spending hundreds on a boxed G1 toy. This also has the long smokestacks, which have yet to be released in the U.S since the original, meaning non of the other reissues over the years (i think) have these smokestacks. The only weakness is the sticker sheet...for $50 the stickers should be of higher quality. They are very thin, and i had one rip on me trying to peel it off the sheet. So final verdict, yes, $50 is tough to swallow, but youâd have to pay much more to have a mint version of this toy.
It's a nice little Optimus Prime figure. I'm a new/younger collector so I didn't actually grow up with G1. I appreciate it though and I actually started watching the original show. This figure is a great collector's item to have. It's not as fun as other Optimus Prime figures but it's a great display piece. I keep it in vehicle mode and it looks amazing. The shiny, chrome parts stand out and give it a much more premium feel compared other figures with just plastic and paint. It rolls great too, I can't say that about all my Siege figures in vehicle mode. I definitely recommend this piece to anyone looking to collect Transformers, especially if you can get it on sale!
Here we have the main bot himself, G1 Optimus Prime! an absolute essential Transformer to own. Have no issues with the price whatsoever, Hasbro had to make a completely new mold for him, the older mold was simply unusable, creating new molds is very expressive, especially with the solid plastic and die-cast construction this bot has. In hand Optimus is a very high quality Transformers vintage styled figure, so happy to add him to the collection!
Seen this for $50 when first released. I figured at that price, it would hit clearance sooner rather than later. Was in my local Walmart and saw that it was $25. I bought it. Very solid figure. The red for the cab is different than the original, but that's no big deal. For the price, I'm happy with my purchase and ok with it not coming with the trailer. Will add that to the rest of my 500+ collection of Transformers. No complaints.
I swore I'd never pay $50 for this, but changed my mind after seeing it in person. I wish it had the trailer, but other than that this is the same Optimus Prime I remember from my childhood. Brings back a lot of great memories! These figures are so expensive because unlike every other toy they have for sale, Walmart knows that these are going to appeal almost exclusively to adults. A parent is going to take one look at this and say no way, but us adults who had these as children are going to pay up, just as I did. I look at it this way: the figure is priced double what it should be; but the long forgotten memories that were unlocked by this figure are certainly worth the extra cost. Nostalgia at it's finest, and that is priceless.
