Great Camera, $300-$500's of quality

When I started looking at cameras, they were a lot more expensive then i thought they would be. I found this camera and after comparing it to the more expensive cannon and panasonic models i bought it. It is much cheaper and has very good picture quality. Low light is very noisy, however. The zoom is as far as you would want on a camera without optical image stabilization (only present in expensive >$300 camcorders) but does take a little long to focus. Colors are accurate and easy to correct. The touch screen is the pressure type but is very easy to use. The camera shoots 8 mega pixel video (1080p) 16 mega pixel still photos, and is configurable to shoot at 720/60, 720/30, and vga (standard def. 480p). The main draw back of the camera is the short battery life. It records about a 40 mins of straight 1080p, which may not be long enough for an event. But I use it for making short movies on my youtube channel, where the longest shot is 10 seconds or less and the battery does fine. The audio is stereo and of average quality. Those looking for better quality audio will be happy to know that the X200 has an external mic jack. For looks the camera is very beautiful. It is rubber coated and uses smooth, high quality plastic with a shiny silver ring on the lens.. While other cameras (panasonic and sony) use gross textured plastic and lots of complicated buttons, the Toshiba Camileo has a beautiful, simple black and silver design using only 3 buttons. As i mentioned before, the camera lacks optical image stabilization. The electronic image stabilization does fine at about 8x zoom. anything past that and you may want to use a tripod. The camera also includes a nice velvet bag, all the cords you will ever need (hdmi, usb, red yellow and white circle ones that i forget the name of, and a charging cable) and a very handy remote that can control all of the cameras main functions as well as playback. Overall it is a very nice camera and perfect for those wanting full hd at the lowest price.
Excellent camera for the price. Easy to use. Video and photos are quality. I am very happy with this purchase

For the price and built in features, WOW!

I needed an HD camcorder for my video editing projects. This is so inexpensive and has all the necessary features. HD, video light, timer, remote, quick on/off, stabilizer, etc. And the price is so low, it's good enough for a student.

Purchase a better one.

I bought this in the kit. The video was of acceptable quality. However, the audio was so low it was impossible to hear it without turning up the TV to a very high volume. AND, the battery life is very poor. You would need to carry several other batteries in your pocket. Spend more and get a better cam. I am glad WalMart has a very liberal return policy.
Poor audio & it required another software in order to transfer the media to a DVD player. The battery is difficult to release from the camcorder and sometimes the camcorder freezes and I have to reset the entire camcorder. It also requires a computer of a certain processing speed. However, the LED light is helpful at night & the picture and video quality is good. The price was reasonable

did ok job, but...

it displayed its "countdown timer" on playback i called toshiba and the representative plus the supervisor said that the "countdown timer" could not be turned off i returned it; who wants to see a "countdown timer" on your videos?

Good camera

After reading the manual and locating the features the Toshiba X200 proved to be a great find.

Excellent product for the money!

The more you use this camera, the better you get at it. I am enjoying this and hope to enjoy for many years to come.

Good specifications, bad performance

The specifications are excellent, but the video and the camera are blurry, the "Electronic Image Stabilization" doesn't work, I returned it.

Better that a cell phone camera.

Still getting used to it. So far it seems to be preforming as advertised. Am happy with it.
