I never had smelly armpits, but then I hit menopause and WHOA! Hormonal changes had created an optimal environment for smelly bacteria to grow in my armpits. I wanted a deoderant that naturally inhibited bacterial growth, so I wasn't putting poison on my skin. I knew some people used salts, so I tried products with those first. Then I took a chance on Tom's a couple years ago and haven't looked back. From what I understand, this product uses some property from hops, the same plant used to make beer, to discourage bacteria growth. When I use Tom's I get no armpit odor whatsoever, only a light scent. It doesn't smell like apricots, just a slightly pleasant scent. I've tried other scents and this one is my favorite. I've read a lot of neg reviews here and am perplexed, but everyone's body chemistry is different, so perhaps it simply isn't as effective for some. I've never been a sweat-er, so if someone perspires much maybe they would need to apply it a couple times a day. It is not an anti-persperant, but it definitely absolutely stops armpit bacteria from making a home on my skin!
