Good Sunscreen from a Good Brand
I just recently started using Tom's of Maine's toothpaste and I love it, so I decided to try their baby sunscreen. Tom's is a trusted "green" brand and this sunscreen for babies is no exception. It has a short list of natural products and is recommended by pediatricians. The ingredients list includes zinc oxide, a form of coconut oil, beeswax, sunflower seed oil and castor oil. The product is a thick creamy white but it rubs in quickly and does not feel sticky. The directions recommended that you put this on 15 minutes before going in the sun and to repeat after 80 minutes. It is odor free.

My expectations were too high
I have seen very good reviews on this product before, so I had very high expectations for it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when I tried it out for myself. My baby currently is still too young to use sunscreen (not yet 6 months old), I was hoping to find something for him that would not only be safe to use, but also light on the skin and fragrance free. When I tested this product on my own skin I was disappointed. Although I don't doubt the claims of it being all natural and safe for my baby's skin, the sunscreen is seriously thick and pasty (it's like diaper rash cream) it does not apply easily to the skin and takes some effort to really spread it and rub it in. I put it on my face and had to really work to get it to blend in so that I didn't have white streaks all over. I guess the viscosity of the product might contribute to the sun protection it provides, but I feel very reluctant to rub this heavy paste on my baby. My other concern was the smell. Although it was created to be fragrance free, it definitely has an unpleasant smell to it. I didn't like it when I put it on and I don't think my baby would either if I put on him. Also I think the product is very expensive for it's small size.

Tom's of Maine Baby Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 30

Sunscreen is a must in my family. As a teenager I didn't think sunscreen was necessary and now I'm reaping the effects of my misguided thinking. I'm adamant about my family wearing sunscreen daily whenever we're outside. I have ultra sensitive skin and I'm allergic to most scents so finding a sunscreen that doesn't make me sick can be a chore. Tom's of Maine Baby Sunscreen Lotion with an SPF of 30 is just what I've been looking for. It's gentle enough for me and my grand babies but strong enough for the rest of the family too. It's water resistant and pediatrician tested. But most importantly, Tom's of Maine Baby Sunscreen Lotion is all natural. It's the perfect addition to our natural and organic home.

Great Product.

I like this baby sun screen and I use it for myself and our grandson. It is good for his skin because it is easy and gentle to spread on baby's skin. My grandson is very sensitive to sun. I tried several lotions and very soon his skin got red. This baby Sunscreen Lotion protects him not to get red for hours. It works great for all of us.

Effective and not harsh

We used this product all last summer and found it to be very effective in keeping sun exposure at bay. The application was easy and not too thick. The fragrance free aspect of it was nice. The packaging is cute! I would buy this product for future summers!

This sunscreen is amazing

My kids who have has very sensitive skin so we have tried many sunscreens. Many of them didn't protect her from the sun and unfortunately she got burnt many times. This sunscreen is amazing! It is waterproof and protects her great from the sun. No allergic reaction! Love love love this sunscreen!

Great sunscreen

Love this sunscreen! It works great and I love the all natural ingredients. Easy to apply, great scent and texture. I feel good about putting this on baby!

Safest Sunscreen Choice

I am reviewing Tom's of Maine Baby Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30. This sunscreen's main ingredient is zinc oxide which has been around for years as a sunblock. Zinc oxide is one of the safest choices you can find as far as sunblock goes. It is a natural mineral which offers protection by staying on the surface of the skin to block the sun's rays. It isn't absorbed into the skin like other chemical sunscreens. This sunscreen leaves a white tint to skin after application due to the fact that it sits on the top layer of skin. It is nice because you can see where you have applied it so you don't miss a spot. After a little bit of rubbing the white tint is less pronounced but will still be there. This sunscreen has little to no smell, it smells a little earthy if you really try hard to smell it. I applied it to my toddler son's exposed skin and he had no reactions or problems wearing it. The downsides to this sunscreen are the white cast it puts on the skin and that it is messier and thicker than tradition lotion or spray sunscreens. I will be comfortable applying this sunscreen to my son often next summer knowing he will be well protected from the sun's rays, and safe from any harsh chemicals that other sunscreens have and I recommend this sunscreen.

Thick But Natural

This sunscreen is very thick and due to its texture, it is harder to squeeze out of the tube. When applied, it leaves a white residue, again because of the thickness. You can try rubbing it into the skin more so that the white residue is a lighter shade, but it still shows up. However, I do appreciate that it does not feel too oily or sticky. Also, it does feel smooth when being applied, so it doesn't take extra unnecessary effort to put on my baby. Despite the thick texture, I do like that it is designed just for babies and it claims that it uses all natural ingredients. It comforts me to know there are no harmful ingredients. I don't mind the thickness on a baby as long as she is getting protected from the sun. I probably wouldn't use it for myself because of the price and because I would need to keep rubbing it in. I like the size of the tube, not too big, so that I can carry it in my baby's diaper bag at all times when I go out. I am not very sensitive to smell, so I don't mind the slight scent even though it says on the tube that it is fragrance-free.

Baby sunscreen I like!

My baby is the most precious person to me and I am doing everything I can to ensure his continued Great Health and Happiness! I love how Tom's Of Maine baby Sunscreen uses only all natural ingredients and I feel safe using it on my son's sensitive and delicate skin!
