Thermos SK1005BKTRI4 Stainless King Vacuum-insulated Travel Tumbler, 16oz
When this Thermos was delivered I was surprised to see that it was packaged only in a bubble lined mailing envelope, without a cardboard box. The envelope did not appear to be damaged, but the thermos had a large dent in the side and a smaller one on the stainless steel drinking rim at the top. Removing the drinking lid showed that the dent in the side extended into the the inner lining of the thermos. So I assume that the dents occurred in the factory or in an intermediate warehouse - I would have assumed such an item would be discarded or sold as damaged merchandise.
Since I needed a leak proof thermos a few days later, I decided to test it to see if the vacuum between the inner and outer containers was still present, and did a test in the refrigerator and on the counter to see how long warm water would stay warm. The vacuum insulation layer still was effective, so I gave it the real life test a few days later, and found that it performs as well as I had expected based on the product description. After about 5 hours in a parked car in 30 degree weather on a cloudy day, the hot water I'd put into the thermos had cooled to a pleasantly warm water to drink on the way home.
The lid also appears to be leak proof in the quick tests I've done, and should remain so unless the parts of the lid become damaged, or the gasket that makes the seal gets dirty.
