I liked the open design of this bookcase, easy assembly, and small footprint. I bought one then ordered a second. We have installed two in our den, placing one on each side of the doorway to the back yard.

Amazing Shelf System
So glad I purchased these. We are updating the laundry room area and needed additional storage that also looked cute. Amazing price and quality compared to other retailers. Arrived well packaged and damage free....assembly was easy. Shelves are 12” deep and great for additional storage.
Nice Product by an Amazing Company
Love the style and simplicity of this bookcase. Easy to put together in about 10 minutes. I did have one issue and was amazed when I reached out to the Nathan James company. In less than an hour after emailing the company, my issue was resolved with no questions asked. This is one of the BEST companies I have had the pleasure to contact. Currently, I happy own 2 of the Theo Ladder Bookcases. Within the next month, I will be purchasing a third. If your reading this review, don't delay, order it today!!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE
First off, without electric tools, it took me about 20 minutes to put together. It was EZPZ. And very easy to put up on the wall. My husband did use heavier screw inserts just to play it safe. We always have those on hand. I put a heavy quilt on one shelf and a lighter quilt with a blanket on another and some lotions that took up to much space in our small bathroom and a colorful fabric bin filled with TP on the top shelf. It's so pretty. I can't stop staring at it.
This is a fantastic shelf
We use this in our bedroom. I admit that I painted the shelves themselves white. I really liked the pale wood color but I wanted white shelves in the room. I knew I was going to paint it when I bought it. The unit itself was the best option I could find for shelving books. Living in an apartment, I knew using shelves on brackets wouldn't hold the quantity and weight of books that I wanted based on the quality of our walls, and we wanted to move away from a traditional bookcase. The lack of walls on the shelf opens up the space and makes the piece flow seamlessly into the space of our bedroom.
One great - one damaged
The one that came undamaged is great! The company has been very friendly and they are sending me a replacement piece. I can't give it 5 star just because of the hassle and lack of quality control, but if you get undamaged ones I think you'll be happy with your purchase. Make sure to level it in all directions when installing it; front to back (each shelf), side to side, and make sure the uprights are straight up and down. I used EZ anchors instead of the cheap ones included.
Love the aesthetics and ease of assembly!
Bought two of these ladder bookshelves, as we have very limited space in a guest-room/home office combination and these are the perfect size for small spaces. Love the aesthetics and ease of assembly, as well as sturdiness. Giving it 4 stars instead of 5, because we had to use pliers to straighten two, completely bent, metal pieces where one of the shelves was to be screwed onto the bookshelf frame. Could have purchased a much less expensive ladder bookshelf, but decided to buy 2 of these, thinking we would get a better quality product.
You get what you pay for
The metal rods holding the unit upright were bent to a point where it wasn't salvageable. They were literally bowed like a crossbow. Plus the smaller metal pegs that the shelves sit on where welded crooked so nothing aligned properly when trying to construct. Overall easy to put together in theory but it's poorly made.
