*I WAS APPROVED OF A REQUEST AND PROVIDED WITH A PHYSICAL ARC IN RETURN FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. THIS DOES NOT CHANGE MY HONEST OPINION* Holy Hell. I knew that this book was going to be an emotional one, but my God, I didn't think it'd be so emotional to actually break me and build me back together! Marci Lyn Curtis has won me over wholly and completely. The Leading Edge of Now was a book I needed to read, and I was and still am blessed that the publisher KCP Loft was willing to send it to me. My ARC has been brightened even more with bright pink sticky tabs, and I've loved putting every single one of them down. I was in a really bad place when I picked up this book. Last month, I went MIA due to an issue that I had and found myself stumbling in between a rock and a hard place. This book really drew me out of that place and told me that "everything is going to be okay" in its own creative book language. One of my favorite quotes was from the first few chapters. "I imagine a field of sunflowers--something my therapist told me to do when I feel like I'm losing control." As someone who is an active patient in therapy, this quote really hit me. My therapist and I are still trying to find ways to help me power through my "moments" as I call them, and having a main character that also goes to therapy really touched me. Another quote that also relates back to this happened to hit me even harder than this one did. "I don't inhale until I hit the grass, and then I bend over and suck air into my lungs as though I've been trapped underwater." This was one of the things that made me cry; I have never related to a character so much than I did in this book. I may have not had the same experience as she did, but I understand her reactions. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. I'm all too familiar with panic and anxiety attacks, and I can tell the difference between them almost instantly. This part of the book was almost too hard to read through due to the feelings I was exposed to, and I welcomed them with open arms. The Leading Edge of Now is a book that I will never forget, and one of the few I plan to reread in the future. Marci Lyn Curtis can count on me buying her next books, as this one blew me away. The characters were perfect-their development was astounding and (the good kind of) overwhelming. The plot was well thought out and pushed forward, and everything flowed together nicely. This was a book I needed, and I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone! My rating of The Leading Edge of Now by Marci Lyn Curtis is 5/5 stars.

About This Item
That might have been okay if he'd spoken to her even once since her father died.
Or if moving in with Uncle Rusty didn't mean returning to New Harbor.
Grace once spent the best summers of her life in New Harbor. Now the place just reminds her of all she's lost: her best friend, her boyfriend and any memory of the night that changed her forever.
People say the truth will set you free, but Grace isn't sure about that. Once she starts looking for it, the truth about that night is hard to find --- and what happens when her healing hurts the people she cares about the most?
Marci Lyn Curtis, the critically acclaimed author of The One Thing, has crafted an honest and emotional story that will resonate with the wide range of readers impacted by sexual assault.
Sexual assault does not define this story, however, just as it does not define Grace. Wry humor and true love emerge as Grace, like many in the #MeToo era, seeks to find her truth, face her truth, and speak her truth.
